At QAC, we believe learning opens doors at every stage of life. That's why we're delighted to join the #GetTheNationLearning campaign and champion lifelong learning for all. We're also celebrating our partnership with Amey , whose Social Value Day recently gave students valuable opportunities to build confidence, practise interview skills and develop workplace readiness.

Bev Jessop CEO, Executive Principal said: 'Lifelong learning is about much more than education. It's about giving people the confidence, skills and opportunities to reach their potential at every stage of life. We are proud to support this movement and encourage others to get involved.'

On Tuesday, QAC hosted a 'Next Steps' Transition Event event for all current students and their parents/carers.

This event allowed students to meet a range of providers for their time after QAC and listen to a talk from QA Community Services Hub Manager Gill and John, Work Placement Coordinator.

We are grateful to all the providers for taking time out of their busy schedules to support the event and talk with our students. by @qac_official

A huge thank you to Amey for visiting QAC last week as part of their Social Value Day. Our students gained valuable insights into communication skills, CV building and interview preparation, helping them feel more confident about their future career options.

Kanchan, Assistant Principal for Personal Development, said: “Students had a lot of fun and gained a lot of valuable knowledge thank you. Nearly all students said they enjoyed carrying out an interview and being able to ask questions too...they want more of this!

A thank you to Amey for making the experience inclusive and meaningful!” by @qac_official

Earlier this week we were proud to host one of our SporTea corporate engagement events with the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce as part of their Brumbassadors Behind the Scenes event series. These events aim to shine a light on organisations that do something really special in Birmingham, so we were delighted to be chosen and be able to showcase our Court Oak Road site and the abilities of our Hospitality and Sports students.

Attendees started the day with some networking and a tour of the site before enjoying a tasty treat and delicious drink in our very own QA Cafe. Our Hospitality students did a brilliant job at taking orders and serving barista standard drinks and delicious cakes. We then moved to the Bradbury Sports Centre for accessible sports taster sessions where attendees were led by the sports students in wheelchair basketball, curling, badminton and blind football.

Thank you so much to the Chamber for collaborating with us on this event and those who attended and participated in the activities. You support was brilliant experience for our students and helped us to continue empowering abilities and inspiring lives.

Yesterday, Mental Health First Aider Haley hosted a craft and wellbeing event for staff members. The session provided an opportunity for colleagues to take some time out, enjoy a warm drink and a selection of biscuits, and connect with one another in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

The event also gave staff the chance to socialise with colleagues they may not usually see or work alongside, helping to strengthen workplace connections and promote wellbeing.

During the evening, staff enjoyed creating decoupage bookmarks and coasters, taking home their handmade crafts while enjoying a positive, supportive social experience. The event was well received and gave staff a valuable opportunity to unwind, be creative, and enjoy time with colleagues.

One staff member commented, "It was my first time attending, and it won't be the last. It was great to have the opportunity to meet staff from other departments, had a good laugh and talk with others in a very relax environment.” by @qac_official

On Tuesday 13th Oct, QAC partnered with Birmingham City Council to raise awareness and educate our students about Hate Crime.

The City Council brought a promotional vehicle to the QAC courtyard for our students to see different awareness campaigns and learn about the protected characteristics. by @qac_official

Every October, on the second Thursday, World Sight Day raises awareness of the importance of eye care, and what it means to have care that is accessible, available and affordable to all.

Last week, Sarah, our Visual Impairment Support Officer, visited classrooms across campus to discuss World Sight Day with our students.

The workshops covered topics around sight loss and encouraged our students to take care of their eyes. Students also had the opportunity to examine a range of glasses tailored for visual impairments. by @qac_official

In just under 2 weeks, the first Next Steps Transition Event of the academic year will take place at QAC on 27th October.

Our Residential and Independence Plus Clients have had a busy start to the new academic year.

They hosted a stand at our Picnic in the Park fundraising event and set up a table top sale, which raised £53.67 for IP projects.

The fun has continued through their weekly social clubs, with clients taking part in a range of activities and trips, including visits to the Black Country Living Museum, bowling, crazy golf, and arts and crafts sessions. These activities provide valuable opportunities to socialise, develop independence, and enjoy new experiences together. by @qac_official
