Gunter Football took some time to honor the 2016 State Championship team last night. Took a little walk down memory lane.

Had some people ask if I played. I didn’t, but I signaled in plays for the offense alongside Coach Daniel Castorena and got to work closely with offensive coordinator Charlie Roten and O-line coach Randy Miller.

One of the best years of my life!

The brotherhood on that team was special. We knew we were good, but we truly didn’t know we were state championship good until we beat Canadian in the 5th round. Unbelievable game and an unbelievable feeling realizing we were going to state! Then we went on to beat the heck out of Boling in the State Championship!

I’d still do anything for each and every one of these guys. It’s been cool to watch everyone step into new seasons of life. College, working, serving in the military, new jobs, getting married, having kids. Champions in everything they do.

Alright, I’m done. Thanks for letting me be sentimental for a bit!

Trying something new this season. Every Friday, I’m taking inspiration from different movie posters and turning them into gameday posts. Should be fun. Hope y’all enjoy! by @qlayman_
