Was a lovely arvo stopping Daniel (@deevvdee) for an "Are you a dad?" chat, walking along in Marrickville.

Being a parent is the great equalizer, it doesn’t matter how old you are, but often how old your kids are! I've met many different dads now & esp there's the dads in their late 40s, early 50s just having kids, and the irony of their job credentials not really meaning much to a baby that just wants to be fed, changed & slept. It's a humbling process no matter where you stand in life. So I'm thankful that 8yrs in on parenting, I feel up for sharing as much of what I know has helped with being a dad so far.

One of those things I've found with my parenting journey, is (the difficulty) trying to meet other parents & create a friendship community as a dad. Which is why I started @qualitydads, to help foster & have a place of support for dads, to share resources we could all benefit from.

The arvo vibes were just too good, I had to ask if Daniel wanted to keep chatting over a cold beer... thankfully @batchbrewingcompany was just across the road (I mean we are in Marrickville, like 10 breweries to chose from!).

A nice little stroll across to A.P Place (@a.p.bread) has us lining up for the Porchetta sandwich. 🥓

The beast of a thing has @issac_eatsalot teaching me the Anacoda approach of simply dislocating one’s jaw to fit the mouth around it all, and hope for the best!

A brief ASMR Crackling moment.

We talk table etiquette on what one might do should you find a chewy bit needing to be discreetly spat out.

I’m officially bestowed the title of ‘Scrapman’ 🙆🏽‍♂️

Issac’s approach on leftovers & what he might do, should he be eating 3 sambos in a row… a respectful way to share the food to those in need.

Alright here it is, “Are you a dad?” I’m joining @issac_eatsalot on his epic mission to eat at only @a.p.bread for the entire day. We kick off our adventure at AP House, he’s undecided on going the Friend Chicken sandwich or the Cheeseburger. We leave it to the chefs to make the decision for us! (Thanks @jimmy_larcombe).

I’m learning the ropes on how to be a Food reviewer & not just use my usual descriptives of “Mmm, yum, tasty, saucy”. 😂

Issac throws in his stance on the “101 Best burger in the world” list! 💥

And I get to play official eat the leftovers cleanup team, swooping in on those hot chips! Still hot, was not mad about it. 😋

I recently met @issac_eatsalot for an “Are you a dad?” chat, which at the end I asked if I could follow him next time to see how he actually does Food reviews!

So if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to eat delicious food all day & have critical reviews about it… this is the one to follow along!

I’m beyond thrilled to be hosting my first in-person @qualitydads community night.

Yes, my oldest son has asked me about my hair growing in the not-so-common places on my body, and yes, I’ve done my best to explain to him why I have it & he doesn’t just yet… 😅

We’ve also talked about death, the universe, religion and many other endless curious questions. Each time it blows me away, because they are all so deep and coming from a place that is so innocent and fresh and it never ceases to amaze me what he’ll be asking me next.

I think it’s so great to have these kinds of conversations with your kids early on, to keep building that trust and to just see where the train of thought leads (for all of us, I often surprise myself).

Let’s keep encouraging our kids to question everything, to seek out answers, to explore things that interest them. 🙆🏽‍♂️
