With my fire season wrapping up in a couple of days, I figured it was time to talk about my new favorite tool. The Super Pulaski from @pathofashtools
The owner, Ben, who I've known for 15+ years let me take this deadly axe for a test drive and boy am I hooked. Incredibly light, sharper than a butchers blade on carving day and an absolute beast when unleashed in the right hands. All parts are locally sourced and built right here in Oregon, I was delighted to be supported by a true local "Mom and Pop" business that is dedicated to their craft. In fact, I was so impressed with the performance of the Super Pulaski that I am purchasing the bigger version of this beast for next season.

Mushroom foraging at the beginning of Fall......

It's been a pretty strange season so far, one filled with a mix of good times and down right awful times. Significant gains, catastrophic losses, I often find myself wanting to curl up into a ball and shut out the world. I think back on this day as a significantly good time and often still think about that patch of moss mere feet from this alpine lake. As our patience is growing incredibly thin for winter, I'd like to remind you all that you can still flood your mind with endorphins by walking around outside with some good friends. Pray for snow

Join us tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025 at the Brew Pub in Govy from 7-10pm to celebrate the life of our dear friend, Kate.

We will also be taking a Cali sober (no alcohol) walk in the woods beforehand, and everyone is welcome. We will meet in the Brew Pub lot around 5pm and launch the walk at 5:30pm.

On Wednesday, October 29, at 5pm, we are going to take a little walk in the woods to share stories and remember Kate, prior to her celebration of life at Brew Pub.

In Kate’s honor, this is a Cali sober event with no alcohol. Everyone is welcome.♥️

We deeply recognize how difficult it is to lose Kate without having a chance to say goodbye to her. This week, if it feels right, we invite you to write her a letter, a note, or make some art for her. We will also have supplies at Brew Pub to write to her if you’d rather be around family while you write. A fire will be made to place any of these items into, to send them back up to her, or you can take yours home to cherish.

Though our relationship was quite complicated, I'm thankful we were able to make amends and we got to experience each other in a whole new light. You weren't just my friend, you were my confidant, my safe space, my mentor and comrade. It was an honor to serve our community together. I loved you Kate, still do, forever and ever. We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.

Got really high up in a Douglas Fir the other day, performing a canopy lift. Seeing the vista view was priceless and climbing up a tree that high in that particular area of Ptown has been a dream of mine.
