A DECADE OF EMPOWERMENT,
Ten years, countless stages, and one message:
BIPoC empowerment. 10-10-10s Across the Board! We celebrate a decade of bringing queer, trans, refugee and migrant artists together through performance, Club Culture and community. For this special anniversary, QAB reunites artists and long time supporters who have shaped its stages over the years for a Curated Exhibition Experience, House-party Like performance show at Portal Galerie. A night to mark why we started, celebrate what we have built and survived together, and dance towards what comes next.

Queens Against Borders is a Berlin-based performance and community platform creating space for queer, trans, refugee and migrant artists since 2015. Bringing together artists from SWANA and beyond, QAB uses drag, dance, music and performance to share our own narratives, build solidarity and create spaces where our communities can be seen, celebrated and heard.

Today has shaken many of us.

We know that for many in our community, attacks like what happened to Berlin Pride yesterday bring back fear, memories, and uncertainty.

We want you to know that you don’t have to carry those feelings alone.

Tonight, Queens Against Borders remains open as a space for community, connection, and care. And showing out trans visibility and immigration empowerment.

Whether you stay for all performances or just stop by for a hug, you are welcome.

We gather not because we are unaffected, but because together is how we heal.

Last night, @queensxborders took the floor at Kolonnadenbar and did what they do best: grief and joy, side by side, unapologetic. They said it best: together is how we heal.

Hate doesn't get the last word here. Racism, transphobia, homophobia — none of it defines who we are. Thank you to the performers, and to everyone who showed up for each other.

Kings and Queens and everything in between have graced the stages of Lollapalooza 2026 next to @pitbull @zaralarsson @lorde @ayliva @lilyallen @lewiscapaldi and many more, but it felt like our stage time had left a strong impression on the crowd, calling for more visibility of minorities, refugee, and POC artists 🩷

Help Us, Help people!
Since the shift of power in Syria, LGBTQ+ individuals, especially trans women, face extreme danger. The new authorities and armed non-state groups are targeting them, just as the collapsed regime did, with horrifying videos of torture and mass arrests spreading. GEM has received a 70% increase in urgent protection requests, but resources are scarce. Your support helps provide emergency relocation, mental health aid, and shelter for those at risk.
Queens against Borders @queensxborders is playing a role in fundraising with @guardiansofequalitymovement to support,collect Donations and make a statement due zero to none news coverage or authorities speaking up to save lives.

Challenge:
Syrian LGBTQ+ individuals are at extreme risk like never before. They are being targeted by both the authorities and society. Cases of torture, including sexual violence, have been documented and widely shared on social media, further endangering victims. While already facing immense hardship, they are now at even greater risk of persecution and violence.
Solution
GEM provides life-saving support through our emergency response efforts. Our protection team works daily to rescue individuals from arrest and persecution, offering mental health support, emergency relocation, protection planning, and safe shelters. With the resources available, we ensure holistic protection to help LGBTQ+ individuals heal and rebuild their lives.

Long-Term Impact:
This project aims to help victims rebuild their lives, whether in their home country or through relocation. By providing long-term support, we empower them to participate in livelihood programs, gain independence, and secure a stable future. This must be accompanied by a healing journey, including trauma therapy, safe spaces, and financial empowerment, ensuring lasting recovery and resilience.
