"Punishment Post", 2026
by @nicholasknightnyc and @petercagestudio
Wood, hardware
96" × 40" × 40"

Standing eight feet tall, "Punishment Post", was designed and fitted to Peter Cage's own body, then built by hand from salvaged lumber more than 200 years old. Nicholas Knight and Peter Cage fabricated the work together in Brooklyn over August and September 2026, turning reclaimed material into a sculpture shaped around a single, specific body.

📍 BROOKLYN: Now on view in "The Tower", a group show curated by @adamliamrose at @oygprojects
363 3rd Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215
Open Sat & Sun, 1–6pm
On view through Nov 1

Queer art history is also a history of loss: archives burned, work destroyed by families, a generation of artists taken by AIDS. What survived, survived because someone fought to save it. 🏳️‍🌈

This #LGBTHistoryMonth, we're honoring the archivists, collectors, and communities who refused to let queer art disappear, and asking: who's saving the work being made right now?

💜 Queer artists: document your work and add yourself to the Queer Art Hub directory.
💜 Everyone else: follow, share, collect, and credit queer artists while they're here.
