🌈🌈🌈🌈 Be loud:

#fckafd #afdverbotjetzt #humanrights

📣 LAST CHANCE TO APPLY! 📣

Do you have a research driven practice? We’re looking for applications from contemporary artists working in ANY medium or across disciplines.

This could include sculpture, installation, moving image, sound, photography, performance, socially engaged practice, textiles, print, digital practice, writing, painting or approaches that move between forms.

You do not need to be a historian or have previous experience of working with museum collections. We’re more interested in how you think as an artist: your curiosity, the questions you ask, the connections you make and how research might feed into your practice.

We particularly welcome artists who are excited by archives, overlooked histories, personal stories, material culture, social history or the relationship between past and present.

We want to give a contemporary artist the time to look again at a seemingly traditional civic collection and see where it takes them.

🌟 Fully funded – £3,000 for fees, materials and travel.

🏠 Accommodation and studio provided

🧑‍🎨 Free access to The Art House’s Maker Spaces including Darkroom, Print Studio and Ceramic Studio

Please share this opportunity with any artists you think you be interested!

🔗 See full details about the residency and how to apply on our website through the link in our bio.

📅 Deadline to apply – Thursday 22 October at 11:00AM

The residency is supported by Wakefield Council with funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the Our Heritage, Our Stories programme.

Comment below if you think compliments have no gender!⤵️✨

You can be handsome and beautiful! The language we use to compliment people is usually gendered: women are supposed to be “beautiful” and men are “handsome”. But, by taking away the gender behind such compliments, we open up people of all genders to feel more seen and appreciated for the complex humans we all are!

It is completely valid to feel handsome and beautiful all at once!✨

Queer art keeps disappearing from our feeds. Posts get flagged, accounts get shadowbanned, and LGBTQ+ artists risk takedowns and harassment just for sharing their work. 🏳️‍🌈

That’s why we’re building @queerarthub: a space made by and for our community. Queer artists can show their work without censorship, connect safely with each other, and get discovered by curators, collectors and those passionate about queer art.

I talked about this at @focusartfair NY... and the message I keep coming back to is that we can’t wait for platforms or institutions to protect queer art. We have to build the spaces ourselves.

Today we’re 1,000 LGBTQ+ artists across 40+ countries, and growing!

💬 Have you had your work censored online? Tell us in the comments.
