Some people make work that feels impossible to categorize.

@frog_spit_simulation is one of them.

I’ve been following Karyn Nakamura's work for a while, so it was great to finally meet in SoHo last week and spend an afternoon making a few portraits.

Her practice sits somewhere between biology, simulation, and machine learning, creating digital organisms that feel both scientific and strangely alive.

What stayed with me most though was our conversation. I left even more curious than when I arrived.

Happy coincidence that she's unveiling a new project at the Oculus in collaboration with @wired this week. Definitely worth checking out. taken in SoHo, New York by @quentinpistol
