Portraits on the streets of Glasgow 2021 // I stand there and I look and I become alive witnessing the truth of us. Climate Crisis // Glasgow 2021 // The Red Rebel Brigade

I understand it could feel that cop26 main event is disrupting the city and wasting resources, but on community level, where we are all felt and listened to, there is absolute devoted love and vibrancy for our Earth and livelihood coming together from across the globe in OUR city. I have never felt more proud to be #glaswegian

Happy birthday dad.

It had slipped my mind that it was my dads birthday, but I think deeper parts of me had remembered. I went to the most beautiful movie premiere last night - Superboys of Malegaon - and I could feel the emotion building in me as the story journeyed through sadness and joy. Upon the movie ending with credits and music I cried the most I have cried since my dads service last year. I woke up this morning and it made sense, today is his birthday.

I never used to cry, but I am so freaking happy I do now.

On Thursday 4th January at 05:30 2024 our adored father, husband, and son Andrew Anderson passed into the deepest of sleeps.

He was told perhaps a few months, yet he gave us and himself a year and 5 months during which we were able to spend such precious time together.

He passed away in peace with the support of his family and hospice staff, with his Mum Agnes being the last of us to see him off.

I personally want to thank my brother Lyle Anderson for his duties of caring for my dad throughout the night, and to my mother Jackie Anderson who in her own recovering state, gave so much rock steady support to my dad, my gran, and Lyle and I.

And to the extended family who made their presence known daily, and who enabled my dads character of story telling and laughter to shine through.

And to my loving friends who have supported me personally throughout the last few months - yous are so special.

And I think my superpower granny is going to outlive us all 🙂. - she cared for her son until the end.

I love him so, and I can’t wait to relive him through me.

A service won’t be for a few weeks yet, and I will update here.

Reflecting back on past meaningful documentary work // Mens experience retreat with @mantramenswork // Scotland 22.

I recently read the work of @mantalks and he asks something like - can anger be healthy?
Or at rather, is it always bad?
- Here let us not not conflate anger with aggression, unless there is.
.
And if the answer is no, then how can it be expressed healthily?
.
A retreat or type of gathering like this allows that chance to express and then release any aspects of masculinity that has not had support ( not just anger - think hearty laughs and cathartic cries).
.
Life can be frustrating, anger as an emotion is an effect of that - let’s talk about how we can accept these effects of being a modern man, and then how we go about releasing them via support.
.
Thank you to men like @davidrossmillar with @mantramenswork & @welcometocaim for providing localised support groups here in Scotland. And thank you to the men & facilitators for allowing me take part and also document with photographs. Next gathering is in Edinburgh on Saturday 18th March - check out the accounts above for information.
