QUIET LUNCH is proud to present The Archive N°8 featuring artist Gregg Emery!

The Archive returns for another wonderful season with artist Gregg Emery!

The Archive is a limited edition collectible art book that puts a spotlight on your favorite artists as new and emerging talent, each book is signed and numbered by the artist themselves. Each copy contains a handmade artwork also signed and numbered. The Archive is the chance to collect and own a tangible piece of creative history! The eight edition of The Archive features artist Gregg Emery. To be direct, Emery’s work is striking but kind on the eyes in regards to creating a familiar eye traffic and a recognizable composition. He doesn’t reinvent the wheel, he beautifies.

This issue is a special because for the first time Quiet Lunch is producing TWO COLLECTIBLE COVERS: ORANGE AND BLUE.

Kates-Ferri Projects Maintains Summer Presence with Damien Davis’ In The Cut.
As we hit the midway mark for the summer, the art world is at a low hum with a lot of the creative community still taking the month off before Armory Week whips us all back into our usual frenzy. But in the middle of this traditional lull, Kates-Ferri Projects is still making some noise with an eye-catching window front exhibition by Damien Davis in the heart of the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Call us new to the scene and easy to please, but we found the act of staging a window exhibition while summering out of town to be quite a thoughtful and even ingenious gesture. While most galleries usually shutter its doors (and windows), Kates-Ferri is sleeping with one eye open–looking out of those of us who could use a little art in this sweltering heat. Damien Davis’ In The Cut is guaranteed to make you break and is great usage of what most of us would easily consider prime real estate.

The exhibition is a well curated snippet of Davis’ new body of works. In The Cut draws from the barbershop as both a social space and a system of visual logic. Across a series of laser-cut acrylic compositions held together with stainless steel hardware, silhouettes of heads, tools, and gestures are broken apart, repeated, and reorganized. The cut, the part, and the lineup are treated not only as aesthetic outcomes but as procedures, ways of measuring, ordering, and maintaining the body. In this framework, grooming becomes a form of structure, where identity is continuously shaped through small, deliberate adjustments.

We are hoping other galleries follow Kates-Ferri’s lead and leave something pretty for the little people to look at next summer.

As a curator, I am often afforded the privilege of pride; and not in a way that you would normally think.

It isn't pride in one's self but pride in others. Others being the brilliant artists who allow us as curators to contribute to and ultimately shape their creative legacy.

"Why Don't We Just...?" is an ongoing collaborative art series by Bleu Pablo and MR. MODA that is continuing to produce wave after wave significant works that embody the true spirit of creative growth and artful rebellion. I am immensely proud of them both and how they have embraced the theme of this project and what it means to the practice of young artists of color.

We have been hosting a series of Vernissages and with our fourth installment coming up on AUGUST 29TH (6 PM - 10:30 PM)

Our next installment with feature limited edition HAND EMBELLISHED prints and we will feature an exclusive sneaker drop that we cannot wait to leak the details to.
