The Line
Mixed Media On Canvas
24” x 24”
Mr. Moda
2026
(Prints Available)

The Line presents a war-ready Cupid—part guardian angel, part soldier—suspended against a Skylight Haint blue background, a color historically used to ward off unseen spirits.

The figure carries Mr. Moda’s signature gap-toothed “SMILE” face, transforming an innocent symbol of joy into a vigilant protector. Across the composition runs a deep red line, a recurring motif within the series that signals death, danger, and the cost of crossing boundaries. The line becomes both weapon and warning.

Along the canvas edge the phrase “DO NOT CROSS ME” reinforces the message: a spiritual and social boundary where protection, conflict, and survival meet.

The Front Line
Mixed Media On Storefront Sign
48” x 80”
Mr. Moda
2026

The Front Line portrays the modern American worker as a warrior moving through an economic battlefield. Set against a background of “Smoke,” a muted variation of Haint blue symbolizing tension and uncertainty, three figures advance toward a distant black star—a symbol of unified direction and collective destiny that transcends any single racial identity.

At the center, the Archer, dressed in an Amazon delivery uniform, releases a bowstring that forms a jagged lifeline across the composition. The line mirrors both a heartbeat and the volatility of the American economy, referencing recent tariffs and the pressures shaping labor and industry.

To the left, the Huntress moves forward in stride, embodying urgency and resilience. To the right, the female Hunter, adorned in warrior-like kente cloth, carries the cultural memory of struggle and strength.

Together, the figures represent individuals on society’s front line—workers, creators, and survivors—advancing toward a shared future.

Artist Yana Toyber (@yanatoyber) recently stopped by Quiet Lunch (@quietlunch) headquarters in Flatiron and after we properly caught up, she asked to take photos of some of the interesting parts the office.

This sounds like a regular occurrence but with the transformative state that I've been in these past couple of years, it actually birthed a moment of divine gratitude.

Being a working creative, I find myself always toiling towards a goal. Rarely do I stop to take time and just thank my own sweet bippy that I get to do what I love every day. Sure, it isn't always Prosecco and crème brûlée. Sometimes it's Dasani water and Hunts ketchup packets...

*Stares off into oblivion*

But I digress...

What I do is important to me and the space that I do it in serves a visual dedication to all the artists that I've work with and various accomplishments--ours, their own and mind. My little 5th Avenue den of madness is a cluttered shrine in which I continue to worship my life's purpose.

Yana and I met over a decade ago; but I'm currently refamiliarizing myself her work. I'm a fan reborn. Her photographic eye is an endearing one. Her photography itself is candid and sincere. She captures the genuine soul of what is in view.

In view: A picture of my grandmother on my father's side, an illustration by Maia Del Estal, a sticker by Bree, works by Justin Aversano, a flyer for David "Star City" White's My Red is Not Your Red, a letter from Esther, a Polaroid self-portrait by Anna Bloda, a print by Boris Bernard, a piece by KEEBS, a painting by Jeffrey Melo, KNICKS IN FIVE, a flyer for a solo exhibition by Alannah Farrell and a piece by Andrew Adames of Planta Industrial.

THANK YOU.

P.S. - It's Yana's birthday yet somehow she's given me the gift of being present.

THE GIFT OF GRATITUDE.

THANK YOU, YANA.

As a working creative, shaping your own destiny while also engaging with the destinies of others is no feat to yawn upon. In fact, it is a tiring task in which we grow weary and forget to rest. And when I say "rest," I don't necessarily mean sleep. One can practice active rest where you give your brain a moment (or moments) to put everything down and just be.

Pace is just as precious as purpose and productivity. Through learning this, I have come to refer to Wednesdays as my Bronze Medal Days. A day where I wake up an hour later, walk a little slower and give myself some space to deflate before I puff my chest out and end my week effectively.

Today I decided to go on a hunt for some Crix to eat with my organic homemade jam and my gifted sour sop tea. I also decide to soft launch an alternated version of an outfit that I plan on wearing tomorrow.

I've been wearing my Advil hat by @snag
all week and I'll continue to do so because it's an early birthday present that I'm very grateful for.

The hoodie I'm wearing is a @quietlunch x @katesferriprojects x #BorisBernard x @dapodavinci collaboration that we created for a group exhibition I curated in February 2024 titled #ItTakesAVillage.

I wore it with BEAUCOUP PRIDE as I allowed myself to box breathe (breath control is a cheat code for the ages), sun bathe (micro-sunbathing while on the move is clutch) and be present while I walked to various locations to find my Crix.

I didn't find my Crix but the nice walk was renewing and I currently feel confident in my ability to fulfill my obligations and achieve my goals for the week.

Not to be didactic, but I urge everyone to find their Bronze Medal Day. Give your credence and give yourself credit.

You deserve it.

P.S. - I WILL BE GETTING MY CRIX. STAY TUNE FOR A FUTURE POST.

🇺🇸 A look back at Why Don’t We Just? @quietlunch @theyard.coworking —a collection built around conversation, contradiction, creativity, and the everyday experiences that shape us.

Some pieces might make you uncomfortable.
Some might make you laugh.
Some might make you ask, “Wait… what does that mean?”

Good.

That’s where the conversation starts.

What piece would you have questioned first?

WHY DON’T WE JUST? @quietlunch

What happens when artists stop giving you answers—and start asking better questions?

This show was never meant to simply be looked at.
It was meant to be questioned.

What are you hunting for?
What are you working toward?
What would you change?

THINK ABOUT IT.
