You’re going to hear me say this ALOT! Prepare to be SICCA me!!

This is bigger than working out and eating well. It’s not just about the physical benefits, but so you can boldly and sustainably walk out the call of God on your life

Jesus calls you to Himself, then tells you to GO…

But what happens when you’re physically too tired to go any further?! How would you respond if the Lord told you there are certain aspects of your promise you don’t have because you aren’t properly stewarding your body

Let me say that differently—properly stewarding the temple of Holy Spirit! We tend to take better care of things that aren’t ours anyway. And the sooner you realize your life is not your own, my hope is you become more intentional to steward well what you’re borrowing

What if you returned it better than you found it, focusing on who God created you to be & not what you were born into?

What if you had the physical stamina to share the gospel & go out and make disciples in all the world?

What if you left a legacy of nutritional literacy that would outlive you; and your grandchildren’s children wouldn’t see diabetes, high blood pressure or stroke strike their families?

What if you valued quality sleep and rest to have the ability to be more focused, creative and productive to get more done effectively?

What if your relationship with food and your body are so aligned with God’s Word, you mess around and make Hell nervous because your insecurities aren’t stopping you in your tracks?

Maybe you had no idea there was a connection at all between the physical and spiritual. Hear me when I say, i didn’t for a loooong time either. But now that I know and actively live it out, my desire to help you practically see it through. You in?

YUM IN THE TUM

Sushi Cups:

* 3/4 cup uncooked sushi rice
* 1 cup water or as needed according to package directions (I used frozen sticky rice for extra ease)
* 2 tbsp rice vinegar
* 2 tsp sugar (or honey)
* 1/4 tsp salt
* 3 medium nori sheets cut into 9 squares

Salmon Marinade:

* 2-3 tbsp mayo
* 1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gf)
* 1-2 tbsp Sriracha or more to taste
* 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
* 1tbsp sweet chili sauce
* 1 lb salmon skin removed, cut into cubes

Topping Options:

* green onion
* slices avocado
* sliced jalapeño
* sesame seeds
* spicy mayo
* kimchi

Preheat oven to 400 degrees & spray muffin tin with nonstick spray

Marinate salmon at least an hour with sesame oil, mayo, sriracha, sweet chili & tamari (best if marinated overnight)

Layer nori (seaweed) with one spoonful of sticky rice on flat surface before placing in muffin tin; place in tin, then add marinated salmon on top of rice (approx 4-5 bite sized pieces)

Bake in oven for 12-14 mins. Let cool for 2-4mins to set

Top with what your heart desires and enjoy these two-bite (or one-bite lol) wonders

In the regular throws of life, this thought came to mind recently and I can’t stop thinking about it:

“God does not just make all new things around us,
but He makes things new within us.”

It’s not always about receiving something from Him as much as it is becoming someone through Him—
someone He, the Lord, called by name and chose intentionally

Lead straight to the text (please go read for yourself), Isaiah 43, in its entirety speaks to this narrative:

•first addressing being created by Him + being formed by Him (two very different things)

•communicating who He is & our identity in Him before addressing what He does for us (although He’s glad to)

•expressing & recalling His divine character + the great lengths He will go for those He loves, calls & chooses; He calls us precious in His eyes, honored and He gives Himself in love

it goes on and on…

And in reminding His people of His track record of faithfulness, He also instructs us to not live in the past but instead we should look to the Lord; that where there is no clear path forward, He creates one. Where there is no relief or refreshment, He provides it

His ultimate goal being the people He formed would declare His praise; that we would taste and see that He is good and live like it

And those formed by Him shall reflect Him—so yes, God provides through the external (I’ve seen it with my own eyes) AND so that we may be made new internally to reflect His love, His goodness and His grace

Life lately from the August view—

Not every blessing came wrapped the way I expected

Some looked like growth. Some looked like rest. Some looked like challenges that stretched my faith.

But through it all, God remained faithful

You don’t have to do things the way you used to; you can change your mind and choose His way

This is the beauty of sanctification and dying to self—by walking out the way of the Lord and resting in Him, you learn more about the you He created; which causes you to live in an authentic freedom and peace the world can’t give and the world can’t take away
