A cosy Japanese izakaya that’s perfect for food, drinks and chill nights 🍻🍢

The place gives off a cosy izakaya vibe with Japanese inspired decor making it a nice spot to sit back, relax and enjoy a few drinks

🍤 Hokkaido River Shrimp - These little shrimps are well seasoned and you can actually bite into the meat
🍢 Skewers - There’s a variety of meat and vegetable skewers to choose from. My favourites were the shio and pepper beef, ox tongue and chicken with leek
🥔 Potato Salad - Leans towards the sweeter side, I wished there were more chunky potato pieces for the texture
🐙 Tako Wasabi - Love the crunch from the tako paired with that wasabi kick
🥬 Pan-Fried Vegetables - An assortment of vegetables offering different textures with a homely feel

The place I’d come to when I want a laid back night with Japanese bites and drinks, the cosy izakaya atmosphere makes it easy to settle in and stay awhile

🍢 YAKITORI NIGHT @ Q-WA BAR!

Came by to check out their selection of Japanese-style grilled skewers, & there were definitely a few standouts 👀 For the yakitori, the Enoki Gyu Golden Mushroom was one of my fav, juicy beef wrapped ard enoki mushrooms, grilled till nicely charred w a lovely smoky flavour. The Wagyu Beef Stick was tender, beefy & nicely grilled, while the Butabara Pork Belly Shio was juicy, savoury & had just the right amount of char.🥩🐷 On the other hand, the Gyu Yaki Shio Beef was a little disappointing as the beef came across pretty dry, although the salt & pepper seasoning was decent

We also tried their Pork Katsu Cheese Pork Cutlet, but this one wasn’t quite worth the price for me @ $19.90. The cheese tasted more like sliced cheese, & the meat-to-batter ratio was pretty underwhelming, felt like around 50% meat & the rest was batter 😅

🍚 For mains, we had the Garlic Yaki Meishi Garlic Fried Rice. Pretty straightforward & decent, though it was slightly dry

Overall, there were some solid yakitori picks, esp the Enoki Gyu, Wagyu Beef Stick & Butabara Pork Belly! 🍢 If you’re here for the skewers, I’d stick to the grilled items rather than the pork katsu.

This izakaya will transport you to Japan! Such a cute and cosy place, donned with the cutest posters and decorations!! We tried a bunch of items ~ these are some I recommend:

Agedashi tofu - the sauce is SO delicious!! The skin of the tofu is chewy and the tofu itself is so soft and with a gelatinous texture.

Pork belly - incredibly juicy and tender with a great fat to meat ratio :))

IKA NO ASHI yuzu wasabi squid - the yuzu wasabi sauce was really refreshing and the squid was quite tender and slightly chewy.

Ox tongue - okay this was not bad… not the best but I wld recommend if u want to try ox tongue!! It’s quite tender and well seasoned.

The other items were alright but can skip :)

Wagyu beef cubes (don’t recommend)

Ikano ashi yuzu wasabi squid head

Ox tongue

Sumibi Chahan charcoal flavoured fried rice (tasted like garlic fried rice)

Eggplant

Hatate mentaiko scallop (SUPER CREAMY.. a bit too rich for my liking)
