“The earth worm bow to the earth, the earth will open for the worm.” .

Allowing yourself to be still is more active than perceived. In stillness we are powerful. Neutralizing cacophonous distractions, by tuning into the fine harmonies that exist within self and the universe. From here you can only rise. But first, Sit and be closer to the earth. Know when to move, and know when to be still. At all times sharpen your blade. Keep ears, eyes and spirit focused. .

Happy Ose Ifa... Kunle and may you be lifted fully into your destiny.

Have you heard about your spiritual mates? No, I’m not talking about ancestors, not talking about angels either. I’m talking about the astral/ heavenly mates we were with before we were called to be born on Earth. These spirit bodies are Known to the Yorubas as Egbe Orun. You may not be familiar with the term but when you learn about them you will realize they’ve been with you all along. I invite to learn with me the fascinating stories and mysteries of Egbe Orun and how to connect with them on Earth. Classes coming October 18th! Stay tuned… by @qweenkobra

We’ve all heard stories of people moving to America to pursue their dreams, but what about the opposite? What about Americans who came to Nigeria to find their truth?

In episode 3 of my ongoing documentary series Exploring African Spirituality, I met a group of Americans who, after years of searching, have embraced the ancient Yoruba religion of Ìṣẹ̀ṣe. Their spiritual path led them not to a church or a mosque, but back to the very source of their newfound faith, to the heart of Nigeria.

I’m grateful to @thandiiiii @danacodyexperience, @qweenkobra and Mr Winston for speaking with me. And to @dreamstoafrica and @oyeniyi_sango for their help in connecting me with my esteemed guests.

The best way to describe it is … Chasing and riding rainbows until they disappear and re-appear again. Àṣẹ Dance Theater has shape-shifted through many forms over the past 25 years. We continue to discover new iterations of ourselves with each rehearsal and performance season. We are always different. At times there were a lot of us on stage. Other times much less. We were blessed to have many years of live percussionists in every rehearsal. Now musicians arrive to rehearse with the dancers closer gigs. We used to perform more frequently. Now, we often perform less than we rehearse. Our work has become more intricate and elaborate while our administrative and managing capacities wax and wane with funding and life schedules. Sometimes we take long breaks and re-emerge. Folklore has always been expensive, but we’ve become far more expensive than we used to be. Time technology, and trends are faster. And yet, we continue to move forward with the seasons, listening, and doing what we can manage well. In gratitude for this gift. As long as we are honest with ourselves, about our capacity, and who we are … Ase will continue to appear and disappear like rainbows in the sky.

✨Gratitude Post✨

Our hearts are full after a deeply fulfilling tour to Conway, SC, and the Bay Area—Oakland and San Francisco, CA! Moving Spirits, Inc. is so grateful for our dancers, supporters, and audiences who shared space with us, witnessed our work, and poured into our journey.

A special shoutout to @qweenkobra for joining us -which was so sweet since she was a part of the seed creation of our work, Sacred Women—your energy and presence were truly a gift.

We were honored to present Sacred Women at the Black Choreographers Festival | Here & Now at Dance Mission Theater in San Francisco. Sharing this work in a space dedicated to celebrating Black dance voices was powerful beyond words.

Thank you to all who made this possible—our dancers, collaborators, and everyone who showed up and showed love. Your support fuels us, and we can't wait to continue this journey with you!

I am + 1 today.
My heart is in a state of gratitude for this beautiful life.
That I have opened my eyes to see another year physically on this earth.
That I have friends and family all over the world.
That I can still dance and sing my heart out.
That when I pray I feel the universe holding me.
That I went to sleep looking at the stars
That I opened my eyes this morning and saw the sunrise on the ocean.
That my feet have walked in magical places that I hold sacred in my spirit.
That my mother calls and prays for me first.
That I can heal my heart and find joy and magic in all of life’s lessons.

My prayer is to keep progressing for me and for you.

Happy lunar new year of the wood snake.
Happy new moon in Aquarius.

Accepting all forms of blessings 🙏🏾✨☺️

Happy New Everything To My Madama, My Spiritual OG, My Beloved Sister @qweenkobra

What’s funny is I almost didn’t realize it was her new year but this morning I woke up and immediately started feeling her. But that’s Sade. She resonates like that. Her love is pure and true and timeless and endless and to know her is to FEEL her love in the wind.

Maferefun Oya and Modupe Iya. You are such a powerful daughter of the wind. I thank you for this beautiful video, its such a reflection of our love. Who needs a mirror when you have a sister.
