I played for a couple years leading up to
middle school . I played the drums during some school recitals , a summer camp , etc. I played the piano more Intimately.

I’ve written short stories , won writing contests , wrote for my school newspaper in elementary school & then briefly in college. I now have more than 10 published articles across a multitude of multimedia platforms . I used to write my own songs too .

I have more than 10 published articles across three different multimedia platforms including “BlackDoctors.org” , “Historically Black Since”, & now “TV ONE”!

I came up with the storyboard in 30 minutes in my notes app. Contributed to the hook of the song , classically sang on the song , & Led my team all while doing this.This showed me that I’m more than capable of chasing ALL of my dreams .

I was one of the youngest girls to be apart of a step team, I’ve danced in a multitude of genres ( from west African to ballet. I’ve performed at the White House during Obama’s presidency & took a masterclass with THE Debbie Allen! I’’ve also performed at The Kennedy center multiple times, etc.

I attended a performing arts high school (Duke Ellington School Of The Arts), where I studied vocal performance and discovered I’m a soprano (which is why I have a treble clef tattoo). I learned how to read sheet music during this time and sight-sing. I was in a choir and opened up for Maxwell when he performed with The National Symphony Orchestra with my show choir, traveled to NYC,etc.
*Fun fact—I haven’t sung or performed since 2022 (I’m finding my way back)

My dad passed more than 10 years ago & my pops passed my freshman year of college. My dad is the reason I can sing, as he used to sing himself when he was younger, & I got a lot of my musical talent from him. My pop pop helped raise me into the young woman I am today and is the reason I finished college. Everything I do is because of them.

I‘ve practiced and learned “mindfulness” & its importance since the age of 7. Due to the elementary school I went to, where we had “peace class,” my mom being a counselor & grandmother being a nurse, I learned at a taken in 𝗥𝗘𝗜𝗚𝗡 by @r.eignnnnnnn

“ what is the meaning of your name & how do you spell it ?, I named you REIGN & not RAIN for a reason “

Every morning, I’d wake up hearing my mommy say this alongside me as my mom and I repeated our affirmations in the mirror.

The last stage of a buttery’s life cycle is THE BUTTERFLY. This stage represented emergence into one’s higher self . I’m no longer who I was but still navigating who I’m becoming . This stage personally reminds me that transformation requires all stages - not just the beautiful ending . From the struggles, to the stillness , and even the breakdown are all apart of the design not the detour .

To my mommy ,
I love you deeply . I would choose you to be my mom in EVERY single lifetime . proverbs 22:6 states “ train up a child in the way they should go” & let me tell you mommy you did JUST THAT . I chose for this to be my last post because without you there would be no me . You’ve instilled so much in me & through it all WE MADE IT ! I am so blessed to be a 2nd generation HBCU graduate such as yourself.

Just like you used to tell me “NEVER G-I-V-E U-P and keep your H-E-A-D U-P” . From songs like “ fabulous” by Jaheim to “I am not my hair” by India Arie I am so grateful to have had such a loving , headstrong , resilient , & supportive mother like you . 🤍

To Reign ,
You did it . Despite it all YOU did it . From every tear to every blessing you did it & this is only the beginning.

“We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?”

“Actually, who are you not to be?”
“You are a child of God.”
“Your playing small does not serve the world.”
“There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won’t feel insecure around you.”

I learned this quote from watching Akeelah and the Bee with my Grammy so many times — just like I learned the beauty of music and jazz from listening to Miles Davis and classical music as a little girl falling asleep. Watching women like India Arie and Jill Scott live so fully in their authenticity showed me that creativity, storytelling, and artistry were always a part of my destiny — I just didn’t know it yet.

To my chrysalis stage of college: I am forever grateful for you. Like a butterfly in its cocoon, this season required surrender, isolation, grief, growth, and trusting the unknown. It was uncomfortable, but through it all, I found my way back to Reign Odessa Mosby. Music, media, and the arts always found their way back to me too — from making up songs as a child, to becoming a classically trained vocalist, to writing articles and creating stories of my own. Even after years away from singing and dancing, I’m finally returning to myself, and I thank God daily for the gifts He placed inside of me.

To my department, organizations, internships, professors, and the younger Reign: thank you for believing in me, my visions, and never shrinking me into a box. Being surrounded by creatives these past four years only fueled me more. In the midst of it all, we did it — soon we will officially earn our Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media Arts with a concentration in Radio, Television, & Film. And I truly hope younger Reign is proud. ❤️

A butterfly goes through four stages in its life span. An egg , larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis) “ the cocoon stage “ , and an adult butterfly.

My first stage of college is what I called the egg /caterpillar stage . This stage to me represents, new beginnings , a moment where I was called to something greater than I knew , & a quiet phase where purpose existed but I didn’t quite know what it was yet . This for me was the start of a new journey . This was a time where I got to know myself more than anything , where I experienced significant loss , & where I also endured strength beyond measure .

As a caterpillar its job is to “eat & grow”. During this significant time in my life spiritually I absorbed knowledge, new experiences good & bad, & most importantly made mistakes . Four years ago I did not think I’d be here after the loss of my pop pop but god had a plan bigger than me . Everyone always asked me how I “made it here “ & I always say it was NO (THING ) / (ONE ) but god.

2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight” . I went into this college journey enduring loss & carrying the loss of my dad & I always said “ I will graduate in honor of those two”, by the grace of god I am here . Like an egg & a caterpillar learning its way that’s what I’ve done & will continue to do!🐛🤍 #caugrad🎓❤️ #clarkatlantauniversity #reign

🐛Where resilience meets rebirth “ 🦋

•Message from the founder 🥰

“I am so happy and blessed to present to you all the first sneak peek of “REIGNition—The HEAL-thy Spark.” This project means A LOT to me mentally, emotionally, & spiritually. It took a lot for me to not only create this but also release it. I’ve felt moments of being triggered but also moments of peace throughout this ongoing process of creation. But regardless of it all, I know and have received multiple signs of confirmation that this is what I’m supposed to be doing. This documentary will highlight my personal mental health journey while demonstrating my skills in journalism, video editing, production, and creative direction. Overall the documentary will feature archival audio from journal entries , video diaries, and self-interviews that explore my overall healing, resilience, and creative growth. By blending narrative and visuals, it will highlight the connection between mental wellness and self-expression. I am so excited to share this almost 5-minute teaser to give you guys an inside scoop on how the doc will be formatted. I’m so excited to reintroduce you guys to me as well as It’s Giving HEAL-thy & WELL-thy.” It’s very much GIVING I hope you love the sneak peak!
