POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Did my first piece of performance art for one of my final projects in school. Turned out to be something much bigger and very important to me. So cheers to ROTTEN being born and allowing me to experience life for the first time, again. And cheers to a year of rotting and loving every second of it.

Introducing @rach_heron as Kiki! We SHALE be captured by their performance!

Rachel Cucheron is an actor from Calgary, Alberta, now based in Toronto. Sometimes they wonder if life would be better if we were a little more like people in the Stone Age, and if Ooga Chaka is accurate, which it is, they are sure it would be. They are beyond grateful to have been surrounded by some of the funniest, smartest, and most talented people they have ever met while working on this show. It has been an absolute dream to be this silly, and they wish they could stay in Ooga Chaka land forever. Long live making art with your friends.

Rachel Cucheron is Two —— Bobolink

“We always come back to the place we started from”

Rachel Cucheron is a non-binary multidisciplinary artist from Calgary, Alberta, now based in Toronto. They are a recent graduate of York University’s Conservatory program, where in their final year they played Amina in Dance Nation, a role that deepened their love of storytelling through movement and the body. That experience, along with their recent performance as Sofia in Zeitgeist at Toronto Fringe, has inspired Rachel to pursue theatre as a language of physical expression. Taking on Bobolink in Concord Floral has been both a mirror into their adolescence and a meditation on how the world once shaped them. Rachel is profoundly grateful to share in this project, which reminds them how art helps us grow into the people we have always been becoming. They have been completely moved by the artistry and care of the entire team and it’s an honour to take part in telling this story.

MEET THE TEAM • @rach_heron is SOFIA

Rachel Cucheron (they/them), is a non-binary multidisciplinary artist originally from Calgary, Alberta now working and living in Toronto, Ontario. As a recent graduate of York Universities Conservatory Program, they were fortunate enough to take on the roles of Electra in Anne Carson’s Electra and Amina in Dance Nation as well as many others. Since graduating, they have had the honour of working in two independent feature films as well as multiple shorts that they are incredibly proud to have been a part of. They’re guided by their wonder of the world. Sofia represents the most tender and soft parts of Rachel; they are a character who allows everything in and tries to see the beauty in it all. Rachel is incredibly excited to share this part of themselves with you, and hope that it will allow the audience to let themselves become a little more permeable as well.

To balance out the caricature of Yoko Ono here’s some of Her most iconic work because she’s a genius and everyone needs to know it. Ps. She didn’t break up the Beatles, she should’ve gotten credit for writing Imagine and John Lennon was a brat.
