📍Day 2 of 3 of the hut-to-hut hike in Triglav National Park, Slovenia 🇸🇮.

🛏️ After spending the night in a dorm in Triglav’s highest mountain hut, we woke early and had breakfast then geared up in our harnesses and helmets ready for the 2 hour Via Ferrata to the Triglav summit.

🗻 The Via Ferrata was absolutely amazing. So different to anything I have done before. I felt safe clipping into the wires and using the hand and foot holds. It was tough with a backpack on but the views were incredible. I literally felt on top of the world! Unfortunately just as we got to Triglav summit, the clouds came in so we had no view at the summit 🙈. It was 2800m high! 😍🗻👏🏼

🥾 We took a different way down Triglav and this was just as tough as going up. We still had lots of wires to clip into and some steeper ledges to navigate. This was the point the sole of my hiking boot decided to come apart 🙈 so our guide @jakob.jarc fashioned me a fix using his multi tool.

🚁 We got to our lunch hut to find out that it was not yet open and the staff and supplies were only just arriving by helicopter 🙈 (see pic). Luckily they still sold us wafers and water though. It was another 6 hours until our overnight hut with nowhere to buy food in between 🙈

🗻 The next bit of hiking was intense as the day was warming up a lot again and there was another sharp uphill and lots of steep downhill towards the first of the seven lakes 😍 the water was so clear!

🍴Then it was a long flat(ish) hike to our lovely second mountain hut where we passed another beautiful clear lake. I was absolutely starving by this point and smashed THREE apple strudels as well as my dinner of barley and bean stew 🐷😅.

Then it was straight to bed to get ready for day 3 which I will sum up in the next post …..

Thank you @keeneurope for the trail shoe demo event at @trekittmountainsports - it was a great opportunity to try on a new shoe that I hadn’t come across before and actually have a chance to do a proper trail run in it. by @rachelsmithrun

A hot and sunny September race in Wales ☀️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. And what a beautiful race Lake Vrynwy Half was. I kept the pace sensible in the heat, but still came out with my 3rd fastest half marathon time so I am really pleased.
