we’ve been looking back on our time together at @yokayo_ranch, and it’s been so cool to reflect on how we and this retreat have all evolved. we both started teaching at @yogabeachsf 8 years ago this week (a day apart 🥹), and a few months later became friends. we feel so lucky that this studio brought us together and that we now get to host these incredibly special weekends together year after year. can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year 🥰 save the dates: aug 19-22, 2027! sign up for our mailing list at the link in our bio @sunset_retreats for updates & to get the link to book soon 🤍 by @rachmardo

last weekend was simply magical. there’s just something so beautiful and powerful about a big group of women coming together to breathe, laugh, move, hug, share, grow and connect. we feel so honored to have had the opportunity to cultivate this experience for such an amazing group for our third year @yokayo_ranch. the retreat to the ranch has always been rooted in friendship and love & it felt especially like that was reflected in the relationships that came out of our weekend together this year. grateful!!

san francisco isn’t really a city you stay in unless you absolutely love it. because, well, it’s expensive. we all know this. people come and go from this place - stay for a few years in a high paying job & move on. somehow i arrived here ten years ago today. just me in my little red car with a plethora of mugs and books and no job, looking for a new adventure.

i wasn’t yet a yoga teacher. i dreamt of working for a music festival one day. i don’t even think it crossed my mind yet that i could one day host yoga retreats. living by the beach in a little home was my dream but i had no idea how it would ever become a reality. and here i am. this all came to me because i took a risk, i left my home (which i do still call home, i have two now), left my best friends + my job. it has not always been easy. and tbh i still cry every time i wave bye to my parents at ohare. but without this leap, i wouldn’t have met my husband, have my daughter, or all of this goodness that has been cultivated through hard work, persistence, a little luck, some awesome people taking chances on me and me remembering what kind of life i hoped to cultivate.

i am just so grateful to this beautiful city, and all of the beautiful people who have helped this place feel like home. happy 🔟 year anniversary san francisco ILYSM. 🤍 by @rachmardo

BR26 gave a whole new meaning to the term ‘working mom.’ the fest was quite a different experience from other years!! i came off of mat leave at 6 weeks to support my team ahead of the fest, fully anticipating my babe would take a bottle and she and my husband would have a nice little time together while i worked the festival. spoiler alert: she didn’t. so i ran back and forth to feed the little queen whenever she needed me. it was a lot, but we did it (special thanks to dad + MIL of the year), and somehow everything still got done including my highlights of getting to go on a food tour with @phil.rosenthal + getting the bsb to play bop it for our instagram.

what remains the same is how grateful i always feel to be a part of such a special festival. even on this crazy year, it still feels so bittersweet that it’s gone. i love this team, i love what i get to do, and man it felt great to be back doing it. it also feels pretty dang great to be back on leave again + hang out with my little girlfriend (thank you @livenation for the 6 month mat leave 👏). can’t wait for next year @bottlerocknapa 🤍 taken in BottleRock Napa Valley by @rachmardo

april highlights || after a few months of fam visits, not much sleep (still working on that 🫠), getting to know our little one, and trying to take it easy, my best friends all came to visit me and meet our gal. lucky me 🥹 if only having them all down the street like i did that weekend was a constant reality!!! it was the best thing. b + i also took armené to her first bonfire. she fell asleep to a real life sound machine 🌊. it’s cool to start moving from full lockdown to let my body heal towards integrating her into our life we’ve built and the things we love to do 🤍

i went in the sea for the first time since pregnancy on my birthday with my gals and it felt incredible. i got to spend the morning with my mom — i do not know the last time we got to share that day. while i know birthdays usually celebrate the person born, they take on a whole new meaning for me now. especially knowing i was her first — that day 37 years ago was the day her life changed + it was really special to share it with her (and my little peanut)🤍

so very grateful for this life, all of the blessings (especially my sweet little family), where i get to live, and my loved ones near and far. excited to see what this next year has in store ☺️ by @rachmardo

happy due date to our little bun in the oven 💕
grateful to the sweetest, talented @laurenhanussak for freezing this special moment in time with my little gf on the inside at my favorite place. i still don’t really get the 2016 trend but after i got these pictures back from her, i realized i had a stranger take a photo of me my first time back to OB as a SF resident that year in nearly the same spot at the beach. i remember feeling weird about asking a random person to take a photo of me! but i knew that it would be meaningful to have a photo of myself at the place i moved to sf for since i had finally made it out here. never could have guessed what that move would turn into 10 years later. taken in Ocean Beach, San Francisco by @rachmardo
