One of my favorite parts of this project was being able to witness my Arquetzalli friends step into these new experiences with a film crew and by the end of the project, it truly felt like one big family. That’s the beauty of our culture and identity 🇲🇽 family is at the heart of who we are. ✨

Two summers ago, this little project started as a way to reconnect with my heritage and I can’t even begin to express the gratitude I feel seeing how it’s evolved.

At its heart, it’s always been about celebrating the incredible women shaking things up in Charrería, the strength of our Mexican community, and the beauty of our culture ~ especially now.

Huge thanks to @gemfletcher for planting that first spark to document something I care about, to @mgdavilam & @palomazophotography for welcoming me in, to the @arquetzalli.plata family, and of course @zakdelange & @andygoesbig for gifting this opportunity 🙏🏽🤍

Escribo esto entre lágrimas, a menos de diez horas de presentar esta colección en Milán. Ha sido un camino inmenso, y hoy solo puedo pensar en todas las personas, todas las manos y todos los actos de confianza que hicieron posible llegar hasta aquí. Esta colección me hizo volver a enamorarme profundamente de mi oficio: de hacer ropa, de contar historias a través de ella y de recordar por qué alguna vez soñé con dedicar mi vida a esto. Está anocheciendo en mi vida también habla de aprender a soltar. De dejar de querer controlar cada cosa, de aceptar que no todo tiene que ser entendido bajo la luz. Hay momentos en los que solo queda entrar en la noche, confiar en lo que no podemos ver todavía y permitirnos volver a soñar. Quizá este show sea eso para mí: cerrar los ojos un instante y caminar hacia lo desconocido. Mañana, ese sueño empieza a caminar en Milán.

Been working on something really special 🌝 ~ an extension of the work I’ve been building with @arquetzalli.plata over the past few years.

These are some moodboards from a treatment that @yvesphotos and I put together as we delve into the video portion of this project.

This next phase feels especially meaningful ~ continuing to collaborate, expand, and honor the many layers of our culture.
