Rincón reminded me what the simple life feels like. 🌴🌊

For a little while, I got to turn my brain off. No planning. No fixing. No carrying everything. No trying to figure out what comes next. I got to simply exist, take in God’s beautiful creation, and let My Santana take care of me. 🤎

And I needed that.

Because life be life’n… but God be God’n. 🙌🏾

There are so many things in life that can consume your thoughts if you let them…things that aren’t going right, things that still need to be figured out, responsibilities waiting for you when you get home. But in Rincón, I gave myself permission to stop thinking about all of it.

I watched the water. I took in the views. I laughed. I rested. I was loved on. I was taken care of. I was present.

And somewhere between the ocean breeze, the slow days, the beautiful scenery, and not having to be “on,” I remembered exactly what I’m working for.

Peace.

Not a life where nothing ever goes wrong, but a life where I’ve created enough space to breathe when it does. A life that feels soft. A life with room for rest, beauty, love, God, and moments where my mind can finally be still.

So now I’m back refreshed, grateful, and ready to keep doing the work required to create the life I desire.

Because life gone keep life’n…

and God gon’ keep God’n. 🖤💕

And I’m going to keep working toward my peace. 🌊✨🇵🇷

Sooo sooooo sooooo sooooo proud of myself and for my faith in GOD that he will see me through each and every time. I continued to tell him that I thank him for the opportunity. My legs didn’t belong to me these past 2 days. In times where my brain would try to tell me I couldn’t my body SHOWED me I could. I had not 1 but 2 PRs this weekend in both speed and endurance. 🌻🦋 The growth is so clear. I’ve grown so much mentally and spiritually!! 🥰 Thank you to my family, friends & @6run5_ community for constantly encouraging me! 👏🏾

I know I’m late to the party of catching up on old shows but this moment in Season 6 Episode 16 where Olivia gave a gift to her broth of an engraved collard undershirt with their dad’s football jersey number and their last name made me shed a thug tear. 💯

That was such a beautiful and intentional gift. 🥹

It also echos how she learned this love through gifts being a love language because Mrs. Baker gave Layla a pair of earrings customized from her Layla’s mom’s necklace who had since passed.

I love that I learned the gift of giving from my mom Murphy Mcguire Herron. I’d like to say it’s the gift of capturing the moment. I give the gift of photo memories that I also recognize I received from Annie Murphy. I miss my granny DAILY because while she was the toughest on her strongest soldiers she was also the one I could lay it all to as well. I can definitely say “I get it from my momma AND my grandmama.

And while I’m not on the custom diamond earring moment for my mom….my mom loves her some Tiffany’s lord. 👀🙏🏾 IYKYK

So…that being said. I just know my momma ALWAYS has my back and that’s such a wonderful feeling. She definitely loves her Sunshine and vise versa.

Thanks for reading my Ted Talk. I was able to publicly celebrate “My lil friend 😂”.

Happy 17th Birthday 🎉to my dancing Deuce, turned Lil’ Scrappy, turned my favorite teenager in the world! 🌎

From your Steelers 🖤💛fidgets to your expensive clothing….you’ve always had your own style and personality. 💯 Watching you grow into the young man you are today has been such a blessing. I’ve loved cheering 📣 you on at 50 eleven million baseball games and you definitely know I’m loud 😂.

One of the things I admire most about you is the way you love on your sisters (and get Riley together 😂). You’re a leader for them, you look out for them, and they have someone they can truly look up to. Never lose that.🥹

And can we talk about traveling with you? You’re seriously one of the easiest people to travel with because you’re so chill. No drama, just vibes…unless Riley starts something. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Then somehow you’re still the calm one while she’s still on 20! 🤯

Even through these ACT math sessions where we both be looking at the paper like, “Now who came up with this?” 😂…we’re going to get through it together.🙏🏾

I’m so grateful that your dad and I crossed paths because it gave me the opportunity to know you, love you, and be one of the MANY people cheering you on. You have a huge SOLID village. Watching you become the incredible young man you are has been an honor. 🏅

For a long time, I’ve been #ResilientRian. 🎢

Always preparing for the next obstacle. Always pushing through….💪🏾

I’m relearning how to be #RadiantRian in this season.

This past week was a reminder that life isn’t just about surviving….

Thursday: Root canal. 🦷

Friday: @thenashvilleblackmarket with my @niabiaxo_ “Nia Nia”. I supported Black-owned 🖤 businesses, met some amazing people, and had great conversations. For some reason, I always click with Chicago women👏🏾! I got some new fashions from @shop.confidence !! The night ended at my favorite bar - @mkeshift .

Saturday: @arts.n.antioch I made art, line danced, hyped people up, and simply enjoyed being me. Not Riley’s mom. Not an educator.

Just Ri’an. Solo.

I also spent some time downtown during CMA Fest doing a fun past time for me “people watching” and listening to live music. Since I’m l still recovering from my labrum tear, I stayed within my limits and enjoyed the adventure with the new limitation.The night ended at my favorite bar AGAIN - @mkeshift .

Sunday: I enjoyed REST 🛌, great food 😋, and quality time with my mom 👮🏾& my Santana 🥇. Exactly what I needed to reset for the week.

This weekend reminded me that Ri’an is more than the roles she fills for others so I’m going to stop anticipating storms ⛈️ and start enjoying the sunshine 🌞 when it shows up.

Our CKR Staff, Mr. Christian @c3.art, @tsuaristocratofbands alum, and Ms. Ri’an @_callmerian_ (2x @tennstateu graduate) brought the power and pride of HBCU drumline culture to our Creative Kids at @purpose_prep Academy.

Through rhythm and teamwork, students learned that drumline is more than music — it’s history, discipline, excellence, and legacy. We explored why HBCUs were created: to educate and empower Black scholars when access was denied elsewhere.

We proudly highlighted Nashville’s four HBCUs:
✨ Tennessee State University
✨ Fisk University
✨ Meharry Medical College
✨ American Baptist College

“One band, one sound.” 🥁
Respect the rhythm. Respect each other. Respect the legacy.

We’re not just teaching Black history.
We are Black history. ✊🏾✨

I truly had a wonderful weekend and celebrated my birthday! 🎉

The real MVP for best mom of the year is Murphy Mcguire Herron !!! She always makes sure her daughter has a wonderful birthday!!! 🎉 I am beyond blessed for her using her talents at “Annie Mae’s Cafe” to feed my village this weekend!
