This week on the podcast we’re sharing a beautiful story from @signalhillfm called “What’s Inside the Moon.”

In the 1960s, the poet Kenneth Koch taught elementary school students in NYC to write poetry. Half a century later, producer Jess Shane tracked down the students to ask what poetry had meant for their lives. by @radiodiaries

🚨 NEW SERIES: ORSON WELLES AND THE BLIND SOLDIER

80 years ago today, on February 12, 1946, a Black soldier named Isaac Woodard was beaten by a white police officer—hours after he was discharged. Nobody knew the identity of the officer, or where it happened. But the story reached a national audience when it got into the hands of director Orson Welles. Welles pledged to solve the mystery, week-by-week, on the air.

It was like today’s true crime podcasts…but in 1946.

Episodes drop weekly through February. Listen to episode 1 at the link in bio.

NEW ON THE PODCAST - The First Computer Dating Service: Operation Match

This week we have the story of the very first experiment in computer-assisted dating.

In the 1960s, businesses had started using a new technology called the computer to process payroll or, say, match a client with the right type of insurance. At the time, computers were big, clunky machines, the size of a whole room.

A couple of Harvard students wondered, what if these same computers could be used to get a date? They created the very first computer dating service, Operation Match.
