Every year since 1998, the visionary puppet designers at Processional Arts Workshop have led the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade with large-scale puppet performances embodying the parade's theme.

The performances tell complex and evocative narratives that unfold as three-minute operas along the parade route.

And every October, @processional_arts' Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles invite dozens of volunteers to participate in crafting these amazing performances, during weekend puppet-raisings at the workshop’s historic barn in upstate New York.

We’ve had the pleasure of documenting this glorious, community-based artistic work for our film. And we can’t wait to see what they create for this year's parade!

Making a documentary about the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade involves gathering every photo we can find about this epic, historic event.🎃

Photographer Scott Laperruque lived in the Village in the early 1980s and documented the beauty and wonder of the parade over several years.

We’re thrilled to include Scott’s amazing photos in our movie!

For more about Scott’s work, check out: https://shorturl.at/E71eY
