UAE returns to the Yemen war. According to sources in Yemen cited by The Guardian, the UAE has agreed to resume payments to government forces fighting the Iran-aligned Houthis in the south. In return, Saudi Arabia will provide air cover. It is the first tangible sign that the deep UAE–Saudi rift over Yemen is healing. Houthi advances have alarmed every Gulf ruler. The money is expected to flow to southern units, mainly the Giants Brigades. The UAE once trained and funded them, and they rank among the most effective anti-Houthi forces. The UAE cut that funding when it quit Yemen in January. On the ground, the Houthis are pushing for Taiz and Marib, the last two cities outside the old South Yemen. Aden’s airport and presidential palace have been hit, and Saudi Arabia faces daily drone and missile attacks. More than 200,000 people have been displaced since August, according to the UN. The fault line is the southern separatists. They want a referendum on secession, and their troops are not yet cleared to fight outside the old south. @rageintel - Romanian F-16s down two drones over the Black Sea. Two Romanian Air Force F-16s were scrambled after two drones, presumably Russian, violated Romanian airspace. Both drones were shot down. According to Romania’s Ministry of National Defense, the incursions happened at two different times, over the Black Sea southeast of Sulina. They came during a massive overnight Russian strike on Ukraine, with more than 330 drones plus ballistic and cruise missiles launched. NATO allies will discuss the incidents at the North Atlantic Council on Tuesday. 🚨🇲🇽🇺🇦 MEXICAN CARTEL FIGHTERS ALLEGEDLY FILMED ON UKRAINE FRONT A viral video purportedly filmed in Ukraine shows armed men wearing military equipment making references to La Chapiza, a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has confirmed that authorities are investigating the footage to determine its authenticity and whether the individuals have connections to organized crime. The controversy follows earlier intelligence reports that suspected cartel operatives infiltrated Ukrainian foreign-fighter units to acquire advanced FPV drone warfare and battlefield experience.
