we were refining a small section of the song (part by part) and this is the moment we were putting it all together—except, instead of stopping after that section, everyone kept singing

i love this clip bc it’s so raw. @asherbl_nk is physically & verbally guiding us through the textures, everyone is (mostly) seated & relaxed, and the beauties & imperfections of 200+ strangers singing together for a single day come through

theres something special that happens at 7pm in my neighborhood when EVERY dog is out (we usually don’t go out for our long walk until after everyone’s in bed, but tonight we needed to be in the sunset glow)

At this time each night an entire neighborhood of highly sensitive dogs and their neurotic human companions do this dance to avoid each other, like cars swerving through and around each other in perfect harmony on the freeway. I’ll duck behind this tree, you cross the street, we’ll dip down this alley way, oh your dog is pooping now? I’ll turn around and head the other direction - all done with the teeniest non-verbal signaling to each other- a raised eyebrow, a glance of dread, a sudden freeze. It’s hilarious. And I find it really beautiful and stressful

And as fun as that all is last week we got to go to big bear and be calm and avoid humanity in nature and all of us stopped doing our jobs for a minute 🌿 by @ragemosaic

Things have felt intense. Freeing. Grief has been a constant touchstone.

At times I’m surprised by about the joy that is able to flow into that space. All around I see evidence of more loving connection with ourselves, each other, and the planet amidst all the ruin. I’m know I’m just a drop in the ocean. And we are many drops.

Lately I’ve had moments of holding intensely paradoxical feelings at once. Feeling joy and love even when surrounded by forces who try to steal it, to separate us, to make us feel as if we aren’t enough or don’t belong or that we are different from each other.

Allowing myself to feel the true depth of care, of desire, to risk, to fumble toward what feels real - to notice what hurts, what’s not working, and to tend to the suffering in and around, even when it will always just be a drop.

Nothing is worth dampening joy, and in wide eyes and trembling open hearts I find it everywhere, even and sometimes especially on the heaviest days. by @ragemosaic
