I didn't become confident by waiting until I felt ready...

I built confidence by making decisions before I felt ready and learning to trust myself along the way.

If you’re want help to take that next step in the mountains, DM me “READY” to apply for mentorship. 🏔️✨ by @ragniko

For years, the standard playbook in the backcountry has been subtle intimidation, macho egos, and women being quietly nudged into the passenger seat.

We’re conditioned to avoid taking up space, assuming the guys always have more experience, because they speak louder, so we stay quiet and follow along. We put ourselves in situations where we feel uncomfortable with.

Don’t get me wrong, it's not that men actively refuse to give us space. But as women, we’re taught to accommodate rather than speak up, and it takes SO MUCH MORE COURAGE for a woman to voice her opinion in a group when she’s skiing primarily with men. That is just the lived reality for most women.

💖 Reading this tribute from @girlsthat.go reminded me of my WHY:

“To spend a week in the outdoors is already something to be immensely grateful for, but doing it with someone who can lead us, teach us and inspire us like you did was EVEN BETTER! We are so thankful that we got to do this trip with you! Legend alert!!!! 🚨❤️😍”
(And the comment: “Mountain guide & life guide ✨”)

👸 I want to be the reason why other women go for it. Ski the line. Speak up in a group. Make their own decisions. Apply for the guide program or sign up for that instructor course.

THAT is what progression and confidence looks like.

I’m taking on 3 more dedicated women for my Backcountry Mentorship before winter kicks off.

For the women who want to stop second guessing every decision and ski bigger lines with more flow and confidence this winter.

Because ready is not a feeling, it's a decision.

And it turns out the only way forward is to make a choice and commit to the process. 👀

What would you most like to progress in this winter?

Technique? Terrain? Decision-making? Confidence? Or simply becoming more independent in the mountains?

I’m Ragni, 1 of 7 female ski guides in Norway, on a mission to build a business to inspire and empower women to trust in themselves and take up more space in the mountains.

And you know what I want?
I want to find the women who are already fucking good skiers, but know they’re capable of so much more in the mountains.

I want to take them into challenging terrain, help them make better decisions, and build that deep trust in themself.
I want to have an absolute fucking blast, even when the conditions suck. 👀🧚‍♀️

👸 And I want to make a whole lot of money doing it.

So if you’re a skier with ambitions who’s ready to invest in yourself, hit follow NOW
chances are you’ll never find me again. 👀🧚‍♀️ taken in Oslo, Norway by @ragniko

6 years ago I was obsessed with controlling EVERY outcome.

Like I was supposed to feel ready first and that any fear was my gut telling me not to go for it.
As if confident people never doubt themselves?

I wanted to control everything so my anxiety would shut up. TBH, that just made it worse😂

Today I know I can’t control every outcome in every aspect of my life. Once I learned to accept that, I felt the biggest relief of my life.

Since then, I’ve tried, learned, fucked up, adjusted and kept going. And now I know confidence builds from doing things before I feel completely ready.

I’m still shit scared sometimes, but now I listen to the fear in a new way and I try to embrace the unknown.

🏆 The reward 🏆

Realizing I can achieve so much more when I focus on the next step, instead of becoming overwhelmed by the gap between where I am and where I want to be.

DISCLAIMER:
I’m not telling you to always go for it just because you feel scared. I just think we need to listen to our compass and not let fear make all the decisions for us.

You can be scared and still GO!! 👸

Being voulnerable isn't for everyone. But if your anxiety is blocking you from moving into bigger terrain - your in the right place.

You don't need to know everything.
You don't need to feel 100% confident.
And you definitely don't need to eliminate every ounce of fear.

You need to learn to trust yourself.

Because confidence isn't about never feeling afraid. It's about trusting yourself to navigate what comes next.

Let me explain.

How many times have you been on a course, learned a ton of new things, gone home feeling inspired… only to find yourself skiing pretty much the same way the next weekend? 🙃

Be honest with yourself. Is this you?

NO SHAME. But here's my opinion: I don't think the answer is learning MORE techniques or getting MORE information.

My first online ski coaching client is a good example of why.

Before we started, he struggled with planning his skiing and finding a good flow, especially in steep terrain. He wanted to ski better in steeper, more demanding terrain.

After four weeks, he described his skiing as:
“I feel much more stable and strategic in my skiing. I now have practical tools to help me ski different types of terrain and snow conditions with more flow and confidence.”

And here's the funny thing → WE NEVER EVEN SKIED TOGETHER!!

We worked online, with video analysis and feedback. He took what we worked on into the mountains, and when he sent me new footage, I could see the difference.

What I love about this is that he didn't need a million new things to work on. He needed the RIGHT things to work on.

Because he was already a really good skier!

And figuring out what those things are? That's where having someone look at YOUR skiing and help you connect the dots makes a difference.

Because it's not just about skiing more.

It's about understanding your skiing and figuring out what's actually holding you back.

I always thought confidence came from knowing more, doing more and proving more. Working harder. On the outside I looked like the most happy and confident woman, on the inside I was full of anxiety.

In 2020 life hit me HARD 👀👇

29 years of people pleasing finally got me after 5 years of being in a depression I didn't even know I had.

I kept pushing until I caught myself crying of anxiety on a super easy climb! It was my body screaming for me to slow down.

That's when I realized something had to change.

Everything shifted when I stopped looking outside myself for answers. When I learned to listen inwards and I started trusting my own decisions.

I stopped trying to prove that I belonged in the mountains, and became the person that truly believed she had something to bring to the table.

That shift changed the way I moved in the mountains and in life.

I made better decisions. I skied with more confidence. I stopped overthinking every turn and every choice. I became a better skier and guide because I learned to trust myself first.

In less than 1 year, I showed up and got accepted to the ski guide program.

Today I guide people in the mountains. But more importantly, I help other women trust themselves to ski bigger lines with flow 🫶

I know what it's like to spend years looking outside yourself for validation. I also know what changes when you learn to trust yourself instead.

In the mountains you can get stuck assessing a snowpack, but eventually you have to make the decision. Kind of like life itself.

That's why I'm creating a guide business where we build self-trust, not just mountain skills.

If you want to improve your skiing, sharpen your mountain skills and trust yourself to ski bigger lines this winter, DM me "READY" 🫶 taken in Norway by @ragniko
