Rainbow BookFest was born from a desire to create an inclusive, welcoming space for lovers of LGBTQ+ books to gather and geek out. To that end, here are a few details about what to expect at Rainbow BookFest on 10th of October 2026. (This Saturday!)

The venue is fully accessible, with a lift to the event space, an accessible entrance and accessible bathrooms. Rainbow BookFest is fully supportive of all disabled people. Please bear in mind that not all disabilities are visible or obvious.

There will be a dedicated quiet space separate from the main event open from 11.30am with comfy seating. There will be fidget toys, colouring sheets and sensory items for you to use. Large events can sometimes be overwhelming, so if you find yourself needing a time-out, head to the quiet space. Similarly, if your legs are tired or you need to sit for a while, head on over. Or come here if there is any other reason you need a bit of peace and quiet.

Rainbow BookFest is an LGBTQ+ event, so I hope it goes without saying that it is a safe space for all people (except bigots, obvs). Abuse, including slurs or hate speech will not be tolerated and anyone acting abusive will be asked to leave.

We will have pronoun stickers available and encourage you to use them.

Water will be available all day.

If you have any needs or concerns on the day, please talk to one of our organisers or volunteers. If there’s anything you want to discuss before the event, please DM us.

There are still a few tickets left if you fancy joining us in York on Saturday, for queer, nerdy, book fun. Check our b.i.o for the l1nk and use code: GetTenOff See you there!

One week to go until Rainbow BookFest 2026! We are so excited to welcome you into the spacious Henley Regatta Suite on the 10th of October. Over 40 authors of LGBTQ+ fiction, plus vendors of book related merch will be in attendance.

Our nominated charity, @aktcharity will also be there to tell you about the wonderful work they do supporting young LGBTQ+ people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. There will be a raffle on the day, to raise money for them, with lots of wonderful prizes from our authors and vendors.

We also have an anthology of short stories written by some of our attending authors, called ‘Hearts and Rainbows.’ All the profits from the sale of this book go directly to AKT.

7 days to go! See you there!

The Beginning of Something is Rhys & Andrew’s story. It’s about finding a way back to each other even when there’s no trust left. Because the heart wants what it wants or else it does not care.

“One day at a time,” Andrew whispered against Rhys’ soft hair. “That’s all you get, Rhys. One day at a time.”
