A quick production tip to save you time. 🕰️

Maybe you didn’t get that perfect vocal take first time or you’re struggling to get it feeling good.

You don’t have to, there’s room for slight adjustments without losing any natural feel.

What often matters is that the character stays in tact.

Patch has more tips of the trade and knows how to get you using this on Logic Pro X, and a similar tool on Reaper (a free software for Windows users)

We’re running a music production mentorship to empower our creativity, for musicians to self-produce and be in control of their own sound.

Link in bio to register while there’s still time. 🪷🚀

1 week left to sign up to our music production mentorship 🎶

For now here’s an EQ Lesson in 30 seconds with @patch_murphy_

How to differentiate Low, Mid & High frequencies in a guitar.

When we train our ears over time to hear these different bits of a sound without having to even try, our mixing and self-production steps up a whole level.

Patch made a taster video for his production mentorship, explaining the fundamentals of one of the most essential tools in mixing then moving on to showing it in real time.

While we’re leveling up artists with the tech bits, our mentorship focuses on creative expression and empowerment, as its designed for musicians by musicians.

We’re offering a new type of production course, one where your artist pathway is honored so that you save time and energy in the long run and are guided to produce in service of song, rather than just for the sake of it.

Register with the link in bio and grab your space.

Red light syndrome is real, and it isn’t a talent problem. The second you arm the track your body reads it as being watched, and you get the stiff version of a part you’d played fine all afternoon.

The fix isn’t confidence, it’s taking away the ceremony. Press record before you’re ready, while you’re still finding the tuning and mumbling half the words. Then leave it running through the false starts and the chat, and turn your screen away so you’re not watching the meters instead of playing.

When you listen back, mark takes by feel before accuracy. The one that moves you is usually from before you thought you’d started.

That’s part of the Creation Framework, step four of seven on the Rainbow Root self producing pathway, and it’s what we work through together in the camp and the mentorship.

What’s shows up when you experience red light syndrome? Do your hands go first when you’re playing an instrument or your voice?

Most people describe their sound in genre words and then get stuck. A genre tells you where your music gets shelved. It tells you nothing about how to make it.

So try this instead. Ten minutes, no instrument. Imagine one room where this song is playing. Not a festival, one room. Who is in it, how many, are they together or on their own. What it smells like, what time it is, what people are doing with their hands, what they feel. Write it as a paragraph before you write a note.

Then read it back for decisions. A kitchen at 2am with two people left in it gives you a close vocal, almost no reverb, and you can hear the chair move. A hall at dusk full of strangers gives you distance, long tails and nothing rushed. Same song, and the scene chose the record.

Keep the paragraph at the top of your session. When you’re three hours in and can’t whether a part belongs, you read the scene back and ask if it fits the room.

The Scene Setting Exercise is the opening move of the Sonic Identity Framework, step one of seven on the Rainbow Root self producing pathway, and we work through it together on the production camp and in the online mentorship.

So what’s the room your song is playing in?

Levels is a two minute job and it is the difference between a take you can use and a take you can’t.

All you are doing is turning the gain knob until the loudest thing you are about to play sits below the top of the meter. Somewhere around minus twelve to minus six is plenty. Nothing in a mix undoes a clipped take, so those two minutes are worth more than an afternoon of plugins afterwards.

The one that catches nearly everyone: you soundcheck at speaking volume, then you actually sing, and the second chorus goes red. Set it to the biggest moment, not the polite one.

It only takes longer when there is more to set. A full drum kit on eight mics is eight of these. A voice and a guitar is two minutes.

Levels is the last step of the Pre-Recording Framework, step three of seven on the Rainbow Root self producing pathway.

What’s the part of recording you always rush?

MUSIC PRODUCTION CAMP 2026

Yes family!

Four days. One small group. One song built together from a guide track to a finished mix.

Full information and discovery call with Patch bookable via link in bio👌🏻🚀

We believe in radical self-empowerment. That people should be able to record themselves without having to rely on exterior variables like studio time, budget, or a skill set they’ve been told takes years to earn.

That’s the gap. This camp exists to close it, and to do it in community rather than alone.

Yes family! We’re super excited to be bringing you this new music production camp which we feel is extremely needed to help get the talented gifts of our community out to the world 🚀

Earlier this year, we loved offering an online music production mentorship, and now we can’t wait to bring the magic in-person.

It’s our mission to inspire personal liberation and self empowerment through creativity and self-expression.

A huge part of that is not just awakening your creativity and identifying your gifts but is actually sharing them with the world …

We see so many amazing musicians throughout the Lovejam ecosystem but notice only a small percentage of those artist actually recording & releasing their music.

Resources, funds, studio time and working with producers is always a huge hurdle to independent artists.

This camp aims to bridge that gap.

Come and experience self-production for yourself through this transformational weekend in service of your artistic vision.

We want to support & resource more artists to share their gifts with the world. 🌍

We’ll be following a recording pathway curated by @patch_murphy_ an independent artist, producer and founder of @rainbowrootrecords who’s built an entire world of sound from a bedroom with a single mic and an acoustic guitar.

He’s spent over a decade producing and is now sharing his methodology, bringing power back to the artists hands by sharing what he’s learnt from the freeing practice of self-production.

It’s also important to us that this artistic revolution isn’t gate kept only by those with more flowing finances, so we offer solidarity options and payment plans to try and meet people where they’re at.

This is about empowering ourselves with the tools and knowledge to be in control of our own music and not giving our creative power away.

We are feeling absolutely stoked about this camp, and to bring the magic of this teaching to and long-weekend gathering after a hugely successful online mentorship.

Register Interest via link in bio and Patch will get in touch 👌🏻
