Cyclone warning!

Madagascar is getting hit by many cyclones this year - pour les amis dans le Sud, Sud-Est et Est restez-vous vigilante! Batsirai in 2022 changed at the last minute - stay alert and prepare.

The weather forecast can change a lot and frequently. We continue to check windy.com, windguru.com and wunderground.com for information on wind and rainfall.

Tsihombe: Friday night, 14 March, heavy rainfall and winds gusting to 60km/h are due
Fort-Dauphin: Saturday morning, 15 March, heavy rainfall and winds gusting to 75km/h
Farafangana: Sunday midday, 16 March, heavy rainfall but ok winds

Fort-Dauphin is due a months' worth of rain in 2 days.

What a difference a week makes between these two photos at the bridge in Tsihombe... 289mm falling in only 2 days in Tsihombe because of #cyclonehonde

Thousands of people across the south of Beloha and Tsihombe have lost their homes. The full extent of the damage caused by the cyclone is still being examined.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those families affected. We will be standing with the Government and other actors to respond to help where possible. by @rainmadagascar

Throw back to our beginnings in July 2019 with just the 6 of us in our little office. We had big dreams and massive determination. Now we are a team of nearly 150 people across three regions, over 70% of the team are women and we haven't stopped dreaming!

What do you see? We see a school with access to clean water for hand washing! CEG Ranomafana and soon to finish EPP, Lycee and Tsena Ranomafana as well have clean water thanks to the rain!

Little shocks of blue are tap points for students to use as they wish - no padlocks, no limits... as much as they want! And if there is some left over (because the roofs are big and the tanks are big) we sell water at an agreed on price at a community kiosk on the boundary of the school for the community to benefit too. A local lady, Tatirano Agent, manages the points and reports when we need to do something to make the system function properly. ##cleanwater #Madagascar #WASHinSchools #wash #SDG6 by @rainmadagascar
