The climate crisis needs urgent, innovative and collaborative action more than ever before.

Over the last three years, Rainmatter Foundation’s work has been around supporting positive climate action, a healthier environment, and the livelihoods associated with them. Our approach at the foundation has evolved to build deeper, collaborative, intersectional, immediate and landscape-rooted solutions to the climate problem. 🌿

We work on building lasting, meaningful partnerships in the climate ecosystem and supporting and collaborating with organisations, individuals and causes working in different areas of an entire spectrum through grants, fellowships and investments. If you are an individual or organisation who is working towards solving for the climate crisis, write to us at info@rainmatter.org. Our team will review your email and connect you if your work aligns with our current goals. 🤝🏻

Who makes the decisions matters as much as the decisions themselves.

The laws that shape how nature is managed and the people who get a say- all influence what happens to wildlife, ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.

Swipe to read about how organisations like Vidhi and Sahjeevan work to shape these decisions, strengthen environmental governance and support communities to take informed decisions.

We don’t need to wait for a crisis to start caring for wildlife.
Wildlife Week may be ending, but learning about the living world and the decisions that shape it is something we can carry with us all year round. by @rainmatterorg

Look closely. There’s more to a place than meets the eye.

When we pay attention to the places around us, we begin to notice what is there, what is changing and what people who know these places can tell us.

This Wildlife Week, we’re looking at how Palluyir Trust, Hume Centre, Dakshin Foundation and School of Ecological Nurturance help people observe, understand and care for the living world in different ways.

Wildlife does not exist in isolated pockets. Like humans, wildlife also moves through and lives in forests, farms, wetlands and towns.

Chakkakomban’s story shows why coexistence within these shared spaces matter.

This Wildlife Week, we’re looking at how MARC, A Rocha India and WCS-India are working towards coexistence in different ways.

From understanding wildlife and working with communities to shaping how shared places are managed, their work offers different ways to think about living alongside wildlife.

When we restore a lake, who are we restoring it for?

Bengaluru's "soup bowl" model of lake restoration looks clean, but the data from Yelahanka, Agara, and Madivala shows that shoreline birds are disappearing precisely because of it.

From October 2nd to 8th, we invite you to celebrate National Wildlife Week, a vital time dedicated to appreciating the rich biodiversity of the environments we share daily with animals. 🐤🌿

This week is especially important because it challenges us to move beyond passive observation and take active steps toward protecting, preserving, and peacefully coexisting with nature. 🍃

To help foster this deeper understanding, we are skipping the standard textbooks to bring you daily interactive quizzes and fascinating facts about the secretive lives of often-overlooked species.

Join the movement by turning on your notifications, participating in our daily challenges, and commenting below with your favorite Indian wild animal! 🐒 by @rainmatterorg

When landscapes face pressure from human activity, native species disappear and the relationships that keep ecosystems functioning are disrupted.

This Wildlife Week, we’re looking at how our partners put rewilding and restoration into practice.

We’re exploring four different approaches, and what they can teach us about restoring ecosystems.

Explore the work behind each approach:
1. Ecological Restoration Alliance India

2. The Shola Trust

What makes a species belong to one place and nowhere else?

From the Western Ghats to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India is home to species found nowhere else on Earth. This is endemism: a story of evolution, isolation and landscapes that shaped life in remarkable ways.

This National Wildlife Week, we’re exploring Endemism and the species that make India’s wild places truly one of a kind. Stay tuned!

Comment "ENDEMIC" to get access to our full toolkit.

Meet the partners bringing Climate Week India to Bengaluru.

@rainmatterorg, Rainmatter Foundation by Zerodha, supports organisations and projects for climate action, a healthier environment, and the livelihoods tied to them.

Nuvora Impact brings systems thinking to climate evidence in India, working with NGOs and social enterprises to find what's holding problems in place, not just what happened.

@terregeneration is the team of creators, amplifying the work of civil society organisations, businesses and government departments working on humanitarian and ecological goals.

the*spark is Bengaluru's collaborative hub for social innovation, built for founders, funders and the wider ecosystem to connect in one shared space.

This speaker at the T4GC Summit 2026 needs no introduction, but we’ll give one anyway. 👀

Kailash Nadh on Signal and Scale: Social Impact Tech in the AI Era

CTO of Zerodha, co-founder of Rainmatter and Samagata Foundation, lifelong tinkerer, and to us, a mentor and dearest friend.

We’re sitting down with him for a candid chat on building tech that matters, because somewhere between the hype and the ground reality, there’s a lot left unsaid.
We’ll be poking around a few things all of us have been curious about:
• Why building on a shoestring might be the smartest (and quietly rebellious) choice
• What’s actually useful in AI, and what’s just very loud
• What happens when we treat open source like roads and water pipes instead of a belief system
• Whether “DIY” can hold up when the goal is reaching millions
Expect straight answers, some friendly disagreement, and plenty of time for your questions.

Date: October 29
Venue: Bangalore International Center (BIC)
TIme: 10AM-3PM

The Becoming of a Wildscape is coming to three cities next week! 🌿

We’re bringing the film to you, along with people who have spent years working on ecological restoration to share what they’ve learned from the field, in conversations that are accessible to anyone curious about restoring land and bringing ecosystems back to life.

The film follows Zerodha’s restoration initiative, Elephants by the Lake (EBTL), in the Eastern Ghats. Guided by curiosity and experimentation, it explores what it takes to rebuild biodiversity, work with communities, and the different roles individuals and organisations can play in restoring the ecosystems around us.

We’d love for the film to reach more people who can connect with this story- feel free to share!

3rd Oct: Kerala Museum, Kochi

5th Oct: India Habitat Centre, Delhi

8th Oct: Mumba Film Festival, National Film Archives of India, Pune
