Had the honor of sitting on a panel facilitated by my dear friend and colleague @ionaconcepts discussing Heirs Property and its impact on the Black community following the screening of a powerful documentary produced by Baltimore’s SOS (Stop Oppressive Seizures) Fund.

One point I stressed during the conversation was simple: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

Having a will and doing the work of estate planning may not be something we like to talk about, but it can prevent tremendous heartache and confusion for our families. More importantly, it can help slow the loss of homes, land, and generational wealth that has impacted Black families and communities for generations.

Protect what you worked for. Put your wishes in writing. Make sure the next generation can build on what you leave behind instead of fighting to hold onto it.

I’m honored to be part of conversations like these that are focused not just on identifying the problem, but on creating frontline solutions.

Salute to the SOS Fund for their steadfast commitment to this work and for continuing to do what’s right for our communities.

Generational wealth isn’t just about what we build. It’s about making sure the next generation can keep it. ✊🏾 taken in Baltimore, Maryland by @raiser_sharp

My niece @mahogany_skywalker said that “Just because I’m vegan doesn’t mean I’m hungry” -

My sister @thick_lake has assured me that will not be the case. We eating good over here 🤤 💯 🌱 I’m blessed to have my own personal vegan chef 🎉

My sister has chosen yo@outlaw plant based culinary arts and as you can see she is doing EXTREMELY well. Stay tuned. You just may one day soon have the chance to enjoy some yourself. For now, the food is all mine 🥰 by @raiser_sharp

This panel examines how arts and culture can serve as critical infrastructure for building stronger communities and more inclusive local economies. Featuring leaders from economic development organizations, business accelerators, cultural institutions, public agencies, and the creative sector, the discussion will explore innovative partnerships that leverage culture to activate downtowns, support small businesses, create jobs, attract investment, and strengthen community identity. Attendees will gain insight into how culture can become a long-term strategy for sustainable economic growth.

In Loving Memory of Lynn Yvonne Nelson 🕊️🙏🏾❤️💐

Lynn Yvonne Nelson was born on July 29, 1954, in the Bronx, New York, to James H. and Rebecca L. Nelson. The fourth of six children, she was raised in the Bronx before her family moved to Newark, New Jersey, where she graduated high school and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

Though she pursued a different path, Lynn dedicated her career to social work with Union County Social Services, serving compassionately until her retirement in 2019.

Lynn was known for her radiant smile, gentle spirit, and deep devotion to her family. She loved music, dancing, and time with loved ones, and as a proud “house head,” she embraced life fully despite her battle with lung disease. Her strength and resilience inspired all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Shakir; her grandchildren, Janiya, Roshon, Amir Jones, and Ranger Chery; her sisters; extended family; and many dear friends who were touched by her kindness and love.

Lynn’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. taken in Heaven by @raiser_sharp

A chill 20 miles around Baltimore with good people is always time well spent.

Big shoutout to @shakadpitts and @dothebikethingmaryland for creating a space where riders of every ability and every kind of bike feel welcome. This weekly Zone 2 ride is one of my favorite ways to get some midweek miles in.

I enjoy the ride, the conversations, and every now and then getting to coach and encourage some newer riders along the way. I can’t make it every week, but when I do, it always fills my heart with joy and happiness 🥰

Recovery ride through Baltimore this hot Sunday morning. ☀️🚴🏾

Rolled through the heart of the city, down to the Inner Harbor, and out to Fort McHenry. No chasing watts. No racing the clock. Just easy spinning, deep breaths, and gratitude for another day on the bike.

Baltimore showed up today 😍 Beautiful waterfront views, historic landmarks, and the kind of summer heat that reminds you to stay humble 😅

Coach Miltism: “The strongest riders know when to push. The wisest riders know when to recover.”

Keep rolling. Keep healing. Keep finding joy in the journey.
