Today, we honor and celebrate @blackpeopleridebikes, an organization dedicated to exposing all Black residents of #Baltimore to the physical, mental, and social rewards of cycling.

@blackpeopleridebikes was founded in 2019 by cycling enthusiasts Shaka Pitts and Nia Reed-Jones. Their aim was to educate novice riders so as to abolish this stigma and help Black people understand how they can utilize a bicycle to drastically benefit their physical and mental health.

Shaka and Nia also sought to bridge the lack of representation of Black people in the cycling space which would break down racial barriers and encourage more Black riders.

Regardless of age, income, or experience level, @blackpeopleridebikes is making bicycling more accessible to everyone through mentorship and community advocacy. In their short few years as an official organization, they’ve amassed an incredible 1,400 active memberships!

Let’s get the word out about the work @blackpeopleridebikes is doing to motivate more Black people to get on wheels.

➡️ Head to the first link in our Linktree to read more.

You can also make a contribution to our fund, which will support all 28 Black-led organizations apart of our #28DaysofBlackFutures campaign ❤️🖤💚.

Day 2. I didn't take any pictures (I snapped this the day before). I was too busy riding bikes. Enjoying the dry heat and big skies. In good company.
.
So happy to be out here. Blessed to share this experience with others.

Big up to @districtcyclingcollective @dc_protests_ @ftpmutualaid for making all of this possible. Big ups to all of the area clubs who pulled up ✊🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾. Big ups to everyone who rode with us and especially @efikid who was the only (non organizer) person to make both rides
