Reading is political. If it were not, why are the banning and actually burning books(Florida)?

Reading is political. If it were not, they wouldn’t limit funding for libraries, and again, ban books.

Reading is political. If it were not, they would not threaten librarians with fines and imprisonment for having or dispensing “banned” books.

Reading is political. If it were not, they wouldn’t omit actual text from history describing enslavement, women’s liberation and “gay.” dOn’T sAY gaY!! Seriously??

I said what I said. I am much more up front in person, so social media tempers my spirited language and tone.

See these shelves? I need folks to step up their shelf-game! #realwoodbookshelves #stepyourshelfiegameup #whydoyourshelveslean #weakassshelves #booknerd #bookworm #bookstagram #bookshelves #booksbooksbooks #readingisfundamental #readinglife #readingrainbow BTW; I had all of my shelves custom made. This is strictly my opinion, but I really just want to know. I manage to get my books for cheap online or at UBS’s so that I can save and buy what I want in shelves. taken in Belmont, North Carolina by @raishonreads

Feminism is for Everybody by Bell Hooks

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars - Read February 16th

I love a good Nonfiction book, but this bored me to tears. Some good info; but more about dismantling patriarchy, than uplifting the feminist movement and educating; if that makes sense. I understand that we must dismantle the system, but this book didn’t state that as the purpose. It’s purpose was to educate people on feminism and to make it digestible.

Anyway….

A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Stars - read February 15th

This was a solid story. I really think this story is about friendship, testing the limits of those relationships, and what it really means to be a good friend. I loved it.

This can be read as a stand-alone, but why would you?

Brief Casesby #jimbutcher
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Read February 13th

Another in-betweener of short stories from the Dresden Files; except a treat of different character POVs. I really enjoyed it; especially Butters and Maggie’s POV.

The Auctioneer by #joansamson

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Read January 24th

Slow burn horror, but not scary horror. More like, the world is ending as we know it, type of horror. The horror of what was happening to the hood folk of Harlowe, NH; was slow and intentional. They didn’t even see what was happening until the rug was literally pulled from underneath them.
