Hey, if you’re new here, I figured it was time to introduce myself and my little crew! I’m Jamie and I’m married to my high school boyfriend, who is in the Navy. We have three kids who keep life pretty busy. Hayat is 19 and starting school for business and marketing, with hopes of eventually getting into cosmetology, too. Payton is 8 and loves baseball and pretty much anything involving sports. And then there’s Paisley, our 5 year old, who loves her dolls and going to Disney.
I teach middle school math, so between school, family, and everything else, life stays busy. I’ve always loved the beach, so moving to Florida and being so close to it has honestly been a dream come true. Disney World has also become one of our favorite places to visit, thanks to our military passes. There is so much to do here, and we’re trying to enjoy as much of it as we can before the Navy sends us somewhere new. Before Florida, I spent 20 years in Arizona. That was the first place that really felt like a home I chose for myself, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
When I have time, I love playing pickleball, and I can never turn down a good true crime documentary. I’m also the person who puts on a show while doing things around the house because apparently, sitting still and watching TV is not something I’m very good at. 😂 Fridays are usually my attempt at actually sitting down to watch something, but I’m still easily distracted. I love hiking, too, although I haven’t been since we moved to Florida. One of my favorite things is going on long drives, sometimes with absolutely nothing playing. There’s something about the silence calms my soul.
Around here, I share a little bit of our family life, motherhood, parenting a child with ADHD, and all the everyday moments in between. I’m glad you’re here! ❤️

Now I want to know about you! Do we have anything in common? Are you a military family, a mom who also can’t sit still to watch TV, a true crime lover, or someone who could spend all day at the beach? Tell me a little about yourself in the comments. I’d love to get to know you, too!

Stimulants has been incredibly helpful for my son. It has helped him focus, regulate his emotions, feel more confident, and honestly just feel more like himself. But that doesn’t mean I’m oblivious to the hard parts. ❤️
One thing people don’t always talk about with stimulants is the afternoon crash.

You know the one I’m talking about if you have a kid that takes them. The stimulant starts wearing off, emotions get BIG, the meltdowns happen, frustration goes way up, and suddenly the things he was able to manage earlier in the day feel impossible again. For us, the answer wasn’t simply adding more stimulants to get through the afternoon. I wanted to understand what else we could do, so I started researching and found @stasiskids .

Stasis is designed to work alongside your child’s stimulant routine and support them as the stimulant wears off. Since adding it, we’ve noticed fewer meltdowns, more emotional stability, more flexibility, and more willingness to adapt when things don’t go exactly as planned which is huge.
Stimulants and supplements aren’t meant to change who our kids are. They’re tools that can help take some of the struggle out of the way so we can see more of the kid underneath it all.
More laughter.
More confidence.
More connection.
More of our kid.
If you’re raising a hard kid who takes a stimulant and you’re dealing with some of those afternoon struggles, Stasis might be worth looking into. 🤍

Thankfully it did get better once he found a sport he loved (and grew up a little)
Who else can relate? 👋

And they still thought it was a good idea to have school today 🤦‍♀️

#ad That’s why I love finding activities like this KiwiCo Winter Sports Mechanical Ornaments Advent Calendar. He’s moving his hands, following the steps, figuring out what to do when something doesn’t fit, and he thinks it’s just fun. I see the sneaky learning, the patience, and the focus that lasts longer than I expected.
And that moment at the end when he holds up what he made? Worth every minute. 🙌
This is what works for our family, and I’m always looking for more ways to channel the busy instead of battling it. Explore Crates at kiwico.com
Save this for your next restless day! And tell me in the comments: what does your kid love to do when the energy is high? 👇

Being built different isn’t a bad thing. ❤️

As a mom raising a child with ADHD, one of the most important things to me is making sure my son understands his brain works differently, and that’s okay.

We are very open with him about his ADHD. We explain it in a way that makes sense to him. Sometimes, things that come easily to other kids might be harder for him. That doesn’t make him a bad kid. It just means we may need to find different strategies to help him through those moments.

But we also make sure he understands that ADHD isn’t an excuse for poor behavior. We still have rules, boundaries, and responsibilities. Our job is to help him learn how to manage those challenges while reminding him that he has so many amazing qualities that make him who he is.

I want him to grow up understanding his ADHD, feeling confident in who he is, and never feeling like he needs to be someone else to fit in. ❤️

So when I saw this shirt from @eliteathleticgear , I knew I had to get it for him. The message felt like such a good reminder that being built different isn’t something to be ashamed of. It’s something we can embrace while continuing to learn what works best for us.

It was originally sold out in his size, but it’s back in stock! His entire outfit, including the short-sleeve shirt, shorts, and necklace, is from @eliteathleticgear. ⚾️

This ADHD Awareness Month, I hope we can keep reminding our kids that their brains may work differently, but that doesn’t make them any less capable, deserving, or worthy of understanding. ❤️

Some parents celebrate straight A’s, and I’m happy to celebrate those too. But sometimes, my biggest proud mom moments happen over things other people might not even notice. Watching my son make a mistake and keep going, try something that makes him nervous, or get through a hard moment without feeling like it ruined his whole day means so much to me. I know how hard some of these things can be for him, even when they look simple from the outside. I don’t need every day to be perfect, and I don’t expect him to get everything right. I just want him to keep learning that he can have a hard moment and still enjoy the rest of his day. That he can make a mistake and try again and that he has so much to be proud of, even when there isn’t a grade or a trophy to show for it. ❤️

School check in time. How’s it going for everyone so far?

October is ADHD Awareness Month, and one thing I’ve learned as a mom is that sometimes our kids need more than reminders to calm down or stop moving. Sometimes they need an outlet for all that energy and impulsivity.

That’s one of the reasons I was excited to try a smash room with Payton, but I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous at first. He’s sensitive to loud noises, so I wasn’t sure how he would handle being in a room where things were constantly crashing and breaking. I worried it might be too overwhelming for him, but he did SO well! 🥹

Watching him enjoy himself in a place where breaking things was actually encouraged was such a cool experience. As a mom of a kid with ADHD, I’m always looking for activities that help him channel some of that energy in a positive way. A smash room isn’t going to magically fix impulsivity or big emotions, but it can be a fun opportunity to practice letting loose in a safe, supervised environment.

Our kids spend so much of their day being reminded to slow down and think before they act. So getting to take him somewhere where he could just have fun without hearing “stop” every few minutes felt like such a win. ❤️

And honestly, seeing him enjoy something I was nervous he might not tolerate made the whole experience even better.

If you have an ADHD kid who loves a little chaos, this might be worth checking out! Thank you, @ismashstuart, for having us!

As his mom, I know there will be times when the world expects him to act a certain way, and he might struggle to meet those expectations. I want him to learn how to manage his emotions and understand that his actions have consequences, but I also want him to grow up knowing that having a hard time doesn’t make him a bad kid. We’re still learning what works for him, and I know there will be days when we get it wrong and have to try something different. I can teach him boundaries and help him learn how to navigate the world without making him feel like he has to hide who he is to be accepted. I don’t expect everyone to understand his ADHD, but I hope he always knows that he is loved, even on the days when things are harder for him. ❤️

I took my son, who has ADHD, and my oldest daughter to @ismashstuart for the first time and had no idea what to expect. First up was the smash room. You get to safely break and bash everyday objects, and they give you all the safety gear. He went through a coffee maker, vases, mugs, plates, and more, but his absolute favorite was smashing a keyboard. For a kid who hears “sit still” and “use your inside voice” all day, getting to be loud and smash things was the best thing ever.

Then we went to the paint room. He told me at first he only wanted to spend 5 minutes here because painting isn’t really his thing, but you guys…this was his FAVORITE room. He’s still talking about it and asking to see the videos. It’s a black light room with glowing neon paint, and you get to take home a canvas. After all that energy, he got to make something instead of break something. Smash first, then create. It worked so well for him.

And now he’s already asking when we can go back and bring his friends. 😂

They also do axe throwing and birthday parties, so I’m already thinking party idea.

I’m an educator and an ADHD mom, and here’s what I keep coming back to: some kids don’t need less energy, they need a safe place to put it.

It’s at 744 Southwest Federal Highway in Stuart. Go check it out, and tell me in the comments where your kiddo likes to burn off energy.
