After an edifying podcast on “How rope is made” and a reference to Melville’s Moby Dick, I painted this. Maybe safer in the belly of a whale these days?
A good friend brought up Robert McCloskey’s children’s book, “Burt Dow Deep-water Man”… I’m sure that memory came forth in this spontaneous paint. by @ralstonfoxsmith
