Rance the Ripper, locked and loaded… or just loading up on a blue Twizzler before the gate drops! Shoutout to my boys for keeping me grounded—or at least entertained—through my pre-race ‘prep.’

I watched Rance roll through this jump over and over.

He knew what everyone else was doing. He knew what he was supposed to do. But knowing and being ready are two very different things when you’re seven years old sitting on a motorcycle looking at a jump that suddenly feels really big.

Then his coach pulled him over.

A little pep talk. A little confidence. And moms and dads standing around him reminding him that they believed in him too.

Sometimes that’s really all they need.

This sport is grueling. It’s competitive. It asks a lot from kids who are still very much kids. And while we want them to learn grit, courage and how to push themselves, I think who they’re surrounded by while they learn those things matters just as much.

Robbie Reynard has been one of the greatest competitors this sport has ever seen. But watching him coach these kids might be even cooler. There’s something special about someone who has accomplished so much getting down on a kid’s level and helping him believe he can do something hard.

Really grateful for RTC and for the people standing around our boys while they figure out just how capable they are.

No trending audio for this one. Turn the sound on. This is the good stuff.

Next week marks the 1 year anniversary of my first amateur national, Ponca City MX. Huge learning experience, but a lot of fun. Since then, I have grown physically and mentally and become a better rider. As my PW career winds down, we as a family are trying to cherish these "early moto memories." Hope to see everyone at the track. by @rancetheripper
