One minute you’re holding onto the back of their Strider, hoping they figure out how to balance. The next, you’re watching them fly through the air, wondering how they got so big.

Parenthood is wild. We’re so busy cheering for who they’re becoming that sometimes we forget to soak in who they are right now.

Because one day, we’ll miss these versions of them, too. 🥹

And speaking of nostalgia, Matchbox Twenty just released their tour dates, so naturally we’re over here getting emotional about our kids growing up. 😂🎶

Ada Outfitters needs a little algorithm love, and apparently my child needs a lesson in basic sanitation.

He seems to think drinking from the same water trough as 18 goats is just another way to strengthen his immune system.

I’m all for dirt, germs, fresh air, farm chores and raising kids who aren’t afraid to get a little messy.

But there’s a difference between building a healthy immune system and willingly introducing yourself to Giardia. 💀

Farm parents, please weigh in. Is this a universal farm kid experience, or am I raising a special breed?

We might not agree on much, but Cody and I work really hard at raising Rance together, and I’ll always give credit where credit is due.

Taking his moto van on a “quick side quest” and coming back with goats in the back.

He wasn’t mad. He wasn’t shocked. Honestly, he was barely phased.

Co parenting is tough. Moto parenting is tougher.
Marketplace hates to see me coming when agriculture is involved.

LIFESTYLE. RACING. CULTURE.

Last night at the Ponca City MX National, we rode in the Ambucs Amtryke Parade.

Trey Morin with TDM Films was catching the action as we paraded through Ponca City. E bikes, SXSs, bicycles, golf carts, dirt bikes and, of course, the mini truck right in the middle of it all.

It might be my favorite part of this event.

The sun is setting. Kids are everywhere. Siblings are chaotic. Parents are tired and still trying. Young riders, old riders and everyone in between gets a chance to show this city a little piece of what we do and why we love it.

Thank you, Ponca City, for welcoming us back again.

MotoPlayground says LIFESTYLE RACING CULTURE, and I keep thinking about that word: culture.

Culture isn’t just something we inherit or something that exists because we all happen to love motorcycles. We create it.

Every parent. Every rider. Every team. Every person in the pits. Every interaction our kids watch.

We are deciding what this sport feels like for the kids growing up in it.

So while we’re building fast racers, chasing championships and celebrating results, I hope we’re just as intentional about building a culture worth passing down.

Because these kids aren’t just growing up in moto. They’re learning what moto is from us.

And we should be very careful to make sure what we’re curating is something worth carrying forward.

It's always the 50 dads waking you up before sun rise when you're trying to sleep in at the track.

None of this is easy.

Not the schedules for the parents. Not the early mornings, late nights, travel, loading and unloading, washing gear, fixing bikes, or getting everyone where they need to be. And dang sure not the riding. If you’ve never ridden a dirt bike, I suggest you give it a whirl before deciding any of this is easy.

Watching these kids do what they do is incredible.

And really, this goes for every kid growing up in a competitive sport. Learning isn’t easy. Growing isn’t easy. Being competitive isn’t only about winning.

It’s learning not to quit when you’re down or behind.
It’s being uncomfortable with where you are and working through it anyway.
It’s falling, failing, adjusting, and trying again.
It’s doing something over and over until one day, what was hard looks easy.

Ponca MX is next week, and our hope for every one of these kids is bigger than a finishing position. Health. Resilience. Confidence. And the ability to trust the process, even when the process is hard.

For us, it’s never been just about racing.

This is the lifestyle we live and love. And we’re grateful for every lesson that comes with it. 🏁

What looks easy is usually just practiced.

I watched Rance roll through this jump over and over.

He knew what everyone else was doing. He knew what he was supposed to do. But knowing and being ready are two very different things when you’re seven years old sitting on a motorcycle looking at a jump that suddenly feels really big.

Then his coach pulled him over.

A little pep talk. A little confidence. And moms and dads standing around him reminding him that they believed in him too.

Sometimes that’s really all they need.

This sport is grueling. It’s competitive. It asks a lot from kids who are still very much kids. And while we want them to learn grit, courage and how to push themselves, I think who they’re surrounded by while they learn those things matters just as much.

Robbie Reynard has been one of the greatest competitors this sport has ever seen. But watching him coach these kids might be even cooler. There’s something special about someone who has accomplished so much getting down on a kid’s level and helping him believe he can do something hard.

Really grateful for RTC and for the people standing around our boys while they figure out just how capable they are.

New bike. New challenges. Same Ripper mentality. 🤘

Rance is tackling the KTM SR one ride at a time. Sometimes he can fire her up all by himself. Sometimes Mom and the crew get called in for backup. 😂

Either way, he’s learning that growing into the next bike means more than being big enough to ride it. You’ve gotta figure out all the little things that come with it too.

I think so much (period, always, too much) about the kind of love we give our children and what they’ll carry from it long after they stop reaching for our hands.

I don’t want love to rein them in. I don’t want protection to become control. I don’t want “because I love you” to ever mean be smaller, be quieter, be easier, be who I expected you to be.

I want our kids to know a love that feels safe enough to come home to and strong enough to leave.

A love that lets them fail. Get dirty. Chase ridiculous dreams. Feel deeply. Change their minds. Ask for help. Stand back up. Become people we never could have planned for.

We aren’t raising children to stay children.

We’re raising humans who will eventually walk into a world without us beside them every step of the way.

So love them loudly now. Teach them what safety feels like. Show them what respect looks like. Give them roots.

And then, when it’s time, trust the wings you helped them grow.
