It’s been a busy few weeks at R&R!
We worked with the Virginia Wine team at LWF, poured NY wines at the US Embassy as part of their 250th Celebration event, celebrated Denbies 40th anniversary and headed to the Battersea Wine Circuit to enjoy some lovely wines in the sun! 🌞 by @randrdrinkers

With English Wine Week running 20-28 June, I could not resist putting together five bottles that show why English wine deserves to be on everyone’s radar this summer 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🍷

1️⃣ A Bacchus Fumé from @wildsharkvineyard, Kent, that takes England’s favourite grape somewhere unexpected with smoky, citrus and elderflower character.

2️⃣ A Pinot Meunier from @blackbookwinery, London, fermented in old Burgundy barrels with indigenous yeast for serious depth and attitude.

3️⃣ A sparkling Rosé from @tinwoodestatevineyard, West Sussex, blending Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay for a dry, creamy finish of real elegance.

4️⃣ A sparkling white from @candoverbrook, Hampshire, made from regeneratively farmed grapes, with lemon blossom, brioche and a precise mineral finish.

5️⃣ A Wild Orange Solaris from @denbies_wine_estate, Surrey, wild fermented and left on skin for almost ten months for a genuinely unfiltered character.

It takes less time to get to Denbies than it does for many Londoners to get to work.

Just 40 minutes by train from Waterloo or Clapham Junction, followed by a short 7-8 minute walk from Dorking Station, and you’re surrounded by rolling vineyards, woodlands and some of England’s finest wines.

Founded in 1986, Denbies helped pioneer the English wine industry long before English sparkling wine became internationally recognised. Today, the estate covers 265 acres of vines and 100 acres of beautiful woodland, attracting more than 425,000 visitors every year.

If you visit, don’t miss the vineyard train tour. It’s the perfect way to explore the estate, learn about the vines and take in the spectacular Surrey Hills scenery. The wines are excellent too. Their sparkling wines are particularly impressive, while the Polaris skin-contact white and Pinot Noir have earned a loyal following.

I finished my visit with a wonderful dinner at the Wine Library Brasserie, where locally sourced ingredients take centre stage. And with 17 guest rooms on-site, Denbies makes a perfect overnight escape from London.

The R&R team has a new addition! 🍷

A couple weeks ago we injected some male-energy to the team. Introducing Ben, who is from just around the corner, in Southfields, and graduated Durham University with a Master’s in Marketing at the start of this year. He’s excited to immerse himself in the world of wine and get to know the incredible people who make this industry so special ✨
