💔 RESCUE IS TERRIFYING.
When Death Row Dogs saves a life, they take responsibility for that life. Holding it in their hands, as precious as the tiniest of puppies. The responsibility does not end when the dog leaves the shelter. The responsibility does not end when a dog goes to foster. Or to an adopter. The rescue has made a promise; a promise to hold this life precious until they can do no more, to do the utmost to ensure a happy, healthy future for this beautiful animal.
💔 RESCUE IS HARD
There are always bumps on the road, some we cannot see. An accident, an illness, a change in an owners life…so many possible events.
Ms Magoo is just a month now, and yet she has already faced two major crises. At two weeks old, Ms Magoo was rescued from East Valley shelter when her mom was scheduled to be euthanized. (We rescued mom and littermates too!) Then, last week, another crisis. An accident, a traumatic head injury landed her in the hospital. The bill? $5617. To our small rescue, a small fortune. Do we have that money? No. Was there time to wait? No.
We keep our promises. Lovely Ms Magoo will grow up. But we need your help. We have gone way out on a limb—many might think us crazy, but we could not let her die.
Every dollar helps - if you can give $50 great, if it’s $5 that’s awesome, if it’s $250 that’s fabulous, too. Although many in our amazing village have already donated, we still need your help. When we cannot pay our veterinary bills, it can jeopardize our ability to get emergency care for the next dog who desperately needs us.
EVERY single dollar brings us closer to paying this bill and continuing to save dogs in crisis. She fought so hard to live. Please help us finish what we started and get her bill paid.

🆘ADOPTION OR RESCUE NEEDED - LUCY #A2294534 - ORANGE ALERT UNTIL TUESDAY, 10/13/26 - MUST PULL BY 4PM!🆘

Female, long haired chihuahua/dachshund mix , 13 years old, 9 lbs - came in as a stray on 9/15

Lucy is sweet and oh-so-small. I showed her to someone this week, and she was super gentle, super happy to just lie quietly in someone’s arms and be petted. Like so many senior small dogs, she needs dental work. And like all dogs in the shelter, she needs a home.

Please don’t let her life end here.

Medical Notes:
1) Severe and painful end stage dental disease
2) Senior pet
3) Mild cachexia/ muscle wasting

Needs extensive dental procedure with numerous complex extractions to be expected in order to address severe and painful dental disease and achieve good oral comfort and quality of life.

I have to make one thing clear: Harry is BEYOND CUTE
When Harry is not afraid, he is delightful. He walks well on leash, loves treats & enjoys being around people. He has a nice energy and he’s just plain adorable! Really fun to spend time with him.
But Harry is scheduled to lose his life on Thursday due to one bad habit. When Harry is fearful, he has shown a willingness to express himself. With his teeth. There have been no bites, but notes that Harry has tried to bite during shelter intake, during the vet exam & when the leash is being removed. He also has growled to let people know when he’s afraid of something,such as being picked up.
Harry needs a home, a safe place with people he trusts. Likely best if he goes to a home with no children and an experienced owner willing to go slow. But as you can see from the video, your patience will be SO well rewarded with sweet, delicious affection.

Spunky ✨ is on medical alert 🔔 and needs everyone’s help!!

Spunky is only 5 months old and already on medical alert for a large congenital inguinal/scrotal hernia. Despite everything, he completely lives up to his name… playful, full of energy, and just a goofy little puppy 🤩.

A Good Samaritan vet visit through Death Row Dogs Rescue helped clarify what he needs medically:
- Approx. 12 cm scrotal hernia, with a small portion of intestine herniating through the right inguinal canal
- Cryptorchidism (one testicle is undescended, so his surgery also requires a cryptorchid neuter rather than a routine neuter)
- Carpal hyperextension

Vet recommends prompt surgical repair because the bowel could potentially twist or become strangulated, which can quickly become life-threatening. His current estimate for his hernia repair + cryptorchid neuter care: $1,711

Spunky URGENTLY needs a rescue + foster, or a dedicated adopter able to follow through with his medical care and expenses. We cannot afford to wait much longer because it can become life-threatening overnight ‼️

He’s still just a baby with so much spunk and he deserves the chance to grow up 🤍

🆘️URGENT!!🆘️

WHY IS HARVEY URGENT????

Volunteer @randyesaunders watched Harvey in playgroup the other day and thought, “I need to meet this fun-loving, handsome boy!” And so she did and I tagged along.

Harvey is a doggie poster child.
His behavior was that good. Friendly when we came up to the kennel, easy to leash, calm walking thru the kennels (and walks well on leash). 🫶

In the yard, he was immediately friendly. Likes petting and affection. Takes treats gently, happy to show his mastery of ‘sit’ and ‘down’.
Really enjoys playing ball, or just chilling and chewing on one.
Loves toys, loves a chew, and most of all, he loves people! ❤️

In playgroup, his style is Gentle/Dainty.
He mingles, playful at times and appropriate in his interactions with other dogs.

Shelter notes say he was nervous when he came in.
Understandable—he had been at the shelter in 2024 and he is a smart dog—I’m sure this is the very last place he ever wanted to see again.

A note two days later says that he was barking, pacing and growling in his kennel. There have been ZERO bad notes since, and yet the shelter has put him on URGENT. 🚨

And dogs on the urgent list usually find themselves quickly on the euthanasia list. 💔

Harvey is fun, affectionate and playful, smart and easygoing. I have enjoyed every moment that I have spent with him.

Male pitbull, 5 years old.💫

Most often, we post dogs because they urgently need to get out of the shelter and their lives are in jeopardy.

TREY isn’t that dog. I’m posting TREY just because he’s a dang good dog and will make someone very happy, if given the chance. 🫶

Can we please switch the order for TREY and get him out of the shelter BEFORE he becomes utterly and completely miserable? Can we get him out and into the home he deserves while he is still a lovely, well adjusted dog???⭐️

Trey came into the shelter this month. My friend @randyesaunders and I had the joy of spending time with him.
He walks beautifully on a leash, knows sit and takes treats gently.

Mild mannered, affectionate and joyous. Has only been in playgroup once so far and was a little overwhelmed, but had bouts of play.

Look at Trey’s wagging tail—lets keep him just this way. Does anyone have room for love?❤️

Little Bit ID #A2293830 has officially taken her freedom walk from the shelter due to the most amazing foster @lindie.beth stepping up for her! She contacted me after seeing our adventure day outing posted on @bfas_la page.

We stayed in touch all week. I attempted to help her find a rescue to pull Little Bit but nothing came together. (We'd still love a reputable rescue to help pull her from the shelter system.)

Then Little Bit quickly went from being on the urgent list to being euth. listed. Her last day was supposed to be on Wednesday. We could not let that happen. So @lindie.beth decided to move forward with fostering her through the shelter and today she had her freedom walk.

She's still available for adoption if you're interested in meeting her reach out to either of us and if a reputable rescue can pull her officially like I said we would love that. (Please send me or @lindie.beth a DM if this is you).

A huge shout-out to @randyesaunders for putting together all the supplies for Little Bit to go home with today. You're the best and the shelter is blessed to have so many amazing volunteers.

DRUMMER HAS SOME THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THIS SHELTER SITUATION 😭📢

This big boy was making his feelings VERY clear behind the kennel door… but he’ll let it go if he finds someone to hold his paw 🐾 🥺.

Drummer is a 4-year-old, 81-lb neutered black lab who was brought in as a stray. Volunteers describe him as incredibly sweet, obedient, easy to handle, and a great walker. He is a total velcro dog. His notes literally say he “did not want to be left” in his kennel 🥺😭.

💫Oh my gosh! I am so in love with little Twinkle!💫

Twinkle is a 4-year old, 45lbs light, low-energy, delightful little girl. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I met her today after @randyesaunders
introduced her to me and we both are so in love with this happy-go-lucky girl.

Twinkle has attended playgroups in the shelter and was good around other dogs. Since she is so low-key, she prefers to stay to herself or to nap in the sun while the other dogs play 🥰.

Twinkle is currently recovering from her spay surgery and is ready to go to a loving home.
She loves being pet and is very lovely all around.

Due to her short snout, low-key activities and a chill home would probably be best for this sweet and deserving girl.

Go, meet Twinkle. I promise you'll fall in love with her!❤️

SUPER URGENT!!! PAN: (ID #A2295717) Male terrier mix, 1 year old, under 5 lbs!!!

This poor parvo positive puppy came into the Los Angeles East Valley shelter Tuesday and needs to get to the vet hospital IMMEDIATELY.

We have a rescue to help but need a foster or adopter for when he is ready to leave the hospital.

And the rescue needs PLEDGES—they have saved several of our parvo puppies and are running out of funds!!!

Atticus, formerly known as Randall #A2283358 at East Valley Shelter, has already had to fight way too hard for his second chance. 🤍

Atticus was originally adopted off the euthanasia list, and after approximately a month in his new home, we learned he was going to be returned.

He had already come such a long way from the shy, unsure dog volunteers knew at the shelter. The thought of him walking back through those doors and ending up on the euthanasia list again was devastating. We couldn’t let him go back.

So we all worked hard to find Atticus another option and amazing foster @lostpawslove stepped up. 🥹🤍 And now we’re getting to see the happy, playful, loving dog Atticus has become.

This 1 year old 55-lb greyhound mix is the definition of an easy, happy boy. Atticus is playful, loving, and just genuinely sweet. He’s the kind of dog who is perfectly content simply being near his people and he’ll happily take a nap while you work around the house, then get up for a little playtime.

Atticus is fully potty trained, walks nicely on leash, and has medium energy. He loves his toys but plays gently, and he already knows “sit” while continuing to work on his house manners like “off” and “out.”

And he’s wonderfully social! 🐾 Atticus does well with kids and dogs of all sizes, and he has a low prey drive around cats. He especially loves having a dog bestie to hang out with.

His ideal home could be one where someone works from home and wants a sweet companion by their side, or a family with another dog and a yard where Atticus can play and enjoy being a dog.

Atticus is the kind of dog who doesn’t need much just a family to love and play with, a comfy place to nap, and someone who will let him be part of their everyday life. 🤍
