The Great Hammerhead Shark.

Estimated ~ 11-12’ TL.

Words can not even begin to describe the incredible amount of respect I have gained for this animal after experiencing it up close and personal. They hold an unmatched power, an otherworldly physiological construction, with senses greater than nearly any other animal on the planet. I am truly honored to have been luckily enough to experience this species in the wild and it will be one that sticks with me for the rest of my fishing career.

Finished up the final Anglers Choice Lake Geneva event of the year this past weekend!

@kayla_besch and I weighed in 15.51lbs and took 4th place out of a 42 boat field. One of the toughest bites of the year on Geneva but we stuck with it and kept our heads up. A 4+lb smallie bite and 4+lb largie bite made all the difference for us!

We ended up finishing the year in 4th place for the team of the year race in a field stacked with HAMMERS. I can’t say enough good things about how this division is run as well as the anglers that fish it! Makes me grow and get better every year!

Finished 5th with 17.35lb and won Big Bass with a 5.26lb green one in this past Anglers Choice event on Lake Geneva.

A week of AMAZING guide trips led up to this event with so many clients catching tons of fish over 5lbs. Slightly disappointing knowing we were around em often and only able to get one in the boat but that’s fishing.

Appreciate my dawg subbing @kdus00 in for @kayla_besch and catching fish all day long with me.

Got the W at this past Anglers choice event on a tough Fox Chain.

Weighed in a 13.02lb mixed bag of 3 smallies and 2 largemouth to get the win.

Caught a decent bag early that would’ve put us in the top 3 but a couple good decisions late led to two culls that got us the dub.

Caught em all the fun ways you can and had a blast as always fishing with my buddy @kdus00 . Congrats to the homies for cashing a 3rd place check as well, boys ate good.

Done well in a handful of Fox Chain events the past couple years but it was incredibly satisfying to finally get it done!

Got the W with @kayla_besch at this past Anglers Choice event on Lake Geneva!

Finished up 1st out of 44 boats with 21.02lbs and big bass at 5.65lb.

Felt amazing to make the right decisions and fish clean all day. Sometimes things come together how u planned, not often but sometimes.

Was able to fish with some confidence most of the day as we had about 20lbs before 7am. Got to go big bite hunting and got a few culls throughout the day along with piles of high 2’s.

Incredibly run event as always and with a field full of STUDS. These events make you a better angler to try to hang around with em! taken in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin by @randysfishing

$Took 2nd place with 20.91 lbs at the first Lake Geneva Anglers Choice event of the year! Unexpectedly had to fish this one alone as Kayla woke up sick and wasn’t able to come stick em with me! Felt good to have some good decision making and move into areas at right times all day. Started off on beds for the first hour, and with nothing going my way spent the rest of the derby fishing for prespawners. It was a blast and the right call, caught bass all day long as well as an absurd amount of walleye too. Stumbled into my biggest prespawn geneva smallie of the spring along the way! Couldn’t be more happy about my decisions this tournament, just need to fish cleaner going forward! Congrats to everyone who cashed a check and appreciate the amazing competition this Geneva AC always brings, so many sticks fishing! S\O @5basslimit_ for the photo! by @randysfishing$

Caught a truly special one a couple days ago jigging.

This is one of those fish that truly reminds you why you have all those crazy early mornings day after day.

The absurd girth of this fish almost overwhelmed its length. I measured this fish on my IGFA board which is in centimeters. Reading the arbitrary number I didn’t even immediately realize this fish was not just crazy fat but also over 36” long.

While this fish is not my longest ever caught I believe dimensionally it might be. Simply seeing this fish fill up a 10” ice hole was breathtaking. The width of the tail on this fish was nearly unbelievable.

While I wish I got a girth on her, I had my soft tape out in my sled and was also much more focused on just getting her released as quickly as possible. The health of this fish is much more important than any picture or measurement you could get.

A hen of this size doesn’t come super often but it’s a possibly EVERY day you go out and quite frankly it’s the reason I go out every day. by @randysfishing
