Happy 80th Birthday, John Prine.
From the first time the 16 year old Kmart stock boy me heard Dale Lawson singin' "Blow up your TV,...throw 'way your papers,.." over the counters in the paint department, John Prine opened a slightly misaligned screen door to an everyman's common sense perspective over my worldview. Honest and empathetic, Prine was the most human of humans.
I'll say thank you.
And I imagine he'd say, "Aww, wasn't nothin'"

Every year, 'bout this time...

Because it's one of my favorite photos ever.
Because it says more about love than could be written in libraries full of poetry.
Because they've been to New York and Hawaii and China, and under this umbrella is the place they loved to be.
Because 62 years.
Ain't that sumthin'.
Happy Anniversary, Mom + Dad.
❤️❤️🥰

The prompt….Milwaukee Through the Glass.

Our Digital Photo and Design students took their skills to Milwaukee completing a series of photo challenges throughout the day.

From leading lines and reflections to the rule of thirds, sub-framing, and worm’s-eye perspective, students used their own creative lens to put these composition skills into practice. 📸🤳📷 by @randysweitzer

Today would be President Jimmy Carter's 102nd birthday. Born in Plains, GA, Carter was one of the finest men to ever hold the office. A true servant leader, a builder and a humanitarian, he actually lived by the very Christian ideals that the current "leadership" only self-serving claim.

For the first time in a long time, I got out for a few miles on the Fort Hill Tail, between the Ray Lake and Lakewood Forest Preserves. Such a beautiful day with lots of littles about: baby snakes, butterflies, frogs, and lots of grasshoppers. I explored a few rough, mowed side/horse trails through the prairie, along tree lines and through wooded groves featuring huge trees and some hidden fire pits for teenagers hanging out and whatnot.

I didn't investigate too closely, lest I ruin the romanticized notions of friends and late night philosophical debates in my head. Debates that never end, decades later still unresolved, leaving no options, no sides that don't have a hypocritical vein pulsing through them. So much for a head-clearing trek...

Thank you, as always to @lcfpd for the open spaces and healthy distractions from the grading I should've been doing. taken in Fort Hill Trail by @randysweitzer

Kelly Bott and I took our Digital Art Photo + Design I classes on a "Milwaukee: Through the Glass" photo field trip last week. The prompts all related to capturing the day through reflection: pure reflection, Milwaukee at work, and self. Starting at the Milwaukee Art Museum and moving west, through downtown, students explored on their own, with maps and designated checkpoints, where they received their next prompt. A wonderfully beautiful day!

Thank you to @vidubanos @mccrowley24 and @tnew87 for the adult support and collegial collaboration. And thank you to @elisemcclanahan whose field trip plan we stole and continue to use!
