As a teaching restaurant, we bring Auburn University’s Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management students alongside our culinary and service professionals, where they refine their craft through hands-on experience.

For our guests, it is an invitation to enjoy exceptional dining while becoming part of that education. For our students, it is where passion takes shape, one plate and one guest at a time.

We’re honored to be featured in The Local Palate’s “7 Grade A Cooking Classes in the South,” highlighting the hands-on culinary experiences available as part of a group stay at The Laurel Hotel & Spa.

Through our connection to Auburn University’s Tony & Libba Rane Culinary Science Center, groups can explore the art of handmade pasta or discover a new appreciation for wine, all guided by expert instruction. In its 33rd year honoring individuals, partnerships and organizations that significantly impact quality of life and change the world, the College of Human Sciences’ annual International Quality of Life Awards (IQLA) returns to New York City to honor the world’s largest wish-granting organization and a world renowned chef/proprietor with a special celebration inside the iconic Rainbow Room on the 65th floor of the Rockefeller Center on Monday, Dec. 7.

“This year’s honorees have a natural connection to the work we do in Human Sciences. Chef Thomas Keller’s leadership and influence in hospitality reflect the level of excellence we strive to instill in our Hospitality Management students, while Make-A-Wish’s commitment to children and families speaks directly to the heart of our work in Philanthropy and Non-profit leadership and in Human Development and Family Science. Happy National Coffee Day! Today we’re celebrating the rich world of coffee through our Food Production & Service lab - Coffee Rotation! ☕✨

Under the guidance of adjunct lecturer Alex Brown, Director of Coffee Operations for our hospitality and commercial management partner, Ithaka Hospitality Partners, which operates our in-house coffee shop and roaster, @thrivehereauburn, students gain hands-on education in the art and science of coffee production and service.

🌱 From growing and production to consumption and service quality, weekly labs bring the entire coffee journey to life! Through hands-on learning experiences, students practice:
