This can be a really hard time for many, so I wrote this for us.

For the adults in night classes getting corrected by pākehā peers. For the kids who were pulled out of Māori medium in the early days when our parents lost faith in the movement. For the teenagers who messed up at manu kōrero and never wanted to look back. For the young parents who enroll over and over again and still find their kids homework too much. For the big sisters who push their siblings into spaces they don't feel confident in, but know they need to be.

For every voice break during a new waiata. For every big breath before a mihi or a pepehā. For every small moment in the big spaces of our whakapapa.

We're doing the work for us. All the time. And that's all that matters.

Māori call for Palestine: Petition.

E ngā mana, e ngā reo, e ngā karangatanga maha huri noa i te motu, nei rā te mihi ki a koutou katoa.

Ka rere tonu ngā whakaaro aroha ki o tātou whanaunga ki Palestine i tēnei wā. Me tuku whakaaro ka tika ki a rātou e noho pani ana, tae atu ki a rātou e whawhai tonu nei i te whawhai nui kia mau ki tō rātou tino rangatiratanga.

Māori call for Palestine.

As tangata whenua, we insist that our partners of Te Tiriti o Waitangi:

1. Demand an immediate ceasefire and expel the Israeli Ambassador until that demand is met.

2. Impose economic sanctions targeting companies, assets and services involved with Israel's illegal war of aggression.

3. Recognise the State of Palestine as we recognized the Nation of Israel in 1949.

4. Demand an end to the occupation, blockade and continued confiscation of Palestinian lands.

Now is the time for us to call on our partners of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to use their power to create change and end the harm of innocent civilians in Gaza, the West Bank, and throughout Palestine.

Day 1 of the Doctrine of Discovery gathering and I am so overwhelmed but also my little nerdy indigenous brain feels like it's found home but also I'm awe struck but also so well taken care of but also I went most of the day not feeling the impending doom of the election but also I am just really blown away by the immense and powerful reclamation of indigenous selves across the globe so feeling something new and exciting I guess x by @rangimarieprosery

Sharing (some) of my live react notes from read of Dirty Work by Nicky Hager.

Experimented with text to type for a bit and refuse to fix some of the mispronounced words (especially names of losers).

I loved this whole fucking book. Withheld some notes because I don't want to be fully perceived but also, I said some fucked up shit about these cunts. to myself. Keeping them and the millions of other half cooked thoughts in the safe confines of my beloved notes app.

Someone delete when I die. Lol. Xx by @rangimarieprosery

Not an Ed Sheeran stan but on today's episode of alternative endings - it was all a part of some big clever plot to take a stand, donate some $, shine light on a pedo billionaire and platform the cause.

Lately the conversations in my world have been dominated by the impending election. I wrote this a while back for a Matike Mai kaupapa and keep coming back to this idea that if we don't vote the c*nts out now - history & global politics has proven that it'll get worse from here. A second term is the worst thing that could happen to our little corner of the world.

If you're Māori, LGBTQA+, Disabled or living in any kind of hardship, we can't afford to get lackadaisical about the very real threat we face of another term with this right wing coalition.

If you're not? Don't squander your privilege by forcing these conditions on others.

By the time the next election rolls around, my kid will be voting. I'm genuinely hoping that by then we'll be voting for genuine change and reforms, not our basic fucking human rights.

Better living everyone x

Did my first ever oral submission to a select committee in person today and I fucking hated every minute of it. Not because I didn't believe in what I was doing, but because I knew that no perfectly curated stats or succinct rationale against the bill was going to hit the mark. I had to do this, and say all of this, in person. Because making ourselves visible is sometimes the most potent form of resistance.

I've been sick to my stomach at the idea of telling our story. I'm quite a prideful person and admiting that shit is hard to a room full of privileged power wielders is yucky.

But I did it. And I met some amazing people. And I cried at their words. And I clapped and I cheered at their rage.

And that solidarity made the exhumation worth it x

Fuck the Disability Support Services Bill and fuck this fucking government.

This government is so fucking brutal sometimes. Had a big cry reading this Bill because at the core of it - this is their attempt to avoid being liable for a big fat gaping hole in the system:

Whānau are not paid to care for people with disabilities.

When my girl was first sick, I had to leave work and take care of her full time. It took me 5 years to manage our cares to the point where I could work again.

Now, I work full time AND caregive AND supervise schooling AND run the house AND parent 24/7. No days off. No breaks. No end in sight. It's a specialized skill set and honestly, a privilege to care for the people I love, in a way that they need.

But fuck me. Most days I'm dreaming of some form of remuneration to offset the exhaustion - the biggest financial deficit I have is fucking time. If I was paid for caregiving, maybe I could afford a cleaner to come in once a week, easier meals to cook, to get groceries delivered, to pay for someone to tutor her, keep the heaters on to regulate temperature better, buy adaptive clothing, make adjustments to the house (don't get me started cause I could literally do this all day).

So when I saw that two parents had won a case to get their unpaid labour recompensed, I cried. I was hopeful, for the first time in 7 years, that maybe there would be a change.

And then this fucking ridiculous bunch of cruel numpties created a whole new bill to completely squash any of that hope.

If you do anything today, read this from Emily Writes. She's hit the nail on the head.
