Meet our 2025 Adult Romance Fiction duo! *cue the swoon* 💞 Priscilla Oliveras is a USA Today bestselling author and Tall Poppy Writers member who writes stories that stir your heart. Proud of her Puerto Rican-Mexican heritage, she brings authenticity to her novels by sharing her LatinĂ© culture with readers. Priscilla’s books have earned Starred Reviews from Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, and Booklist along with praise from O, The Oprah Magazine, the Washington Post, New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, and more. Priscilla earned her Master of Fine Arts in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University and now serves as adjunct faculty in the program. She also teaches the online class “Romance Writing” for ed2go.com and is a book coach and developmental editor with Your Best Book. A long-time romance enthusiast, Priscilla’s also a sports fan, beach lover, and Zumba aficionado, who enjoys practicing the art of hammock napping. Find out more about her at https://prisoliveras.com and catch up with her on Facebook and other social media via @prisoliveras. Raquel Villagra is a New York-based lawyer practicing in racial and economic justice. Her work in progress is inspired by her law school experience, where she was co-editor-in-chief of a journal dedicated to publishing scholarship on social change. She is a member of Romance Writers of America, and when she is not writing or working, you may find her enjoying dessert or chasing her toddler with her husband through their favorite neighborhood spots. Raquel is working on an adult contemporary romance that puts a Latina twist on Legally Blonde in underdog law student Beth MĂĄrquez, who enters a prestigious arguing competition to make a name for herself—only to remember that public speaking terrifies her. When all-too-charming (and so-very-struggling) actor Riker Scheffler offers to work with Beth in exchange for help landing an audition, sparks fly. But mounting pressure on their careers puts their partnership to the test, and Beth and Riker must learn to master the hardest part of arguing: picking up the pieces afterward and holding on to love. ‱ ‱ by @raquel.v1
Still wrapping my head around the news that I am joining this year’s Changemaker Authors Cohort, a truly fabulous group of people doing incredible things and writing incredible stories. Thank you to @unicornauthorsclub and @narrativeinitiative for this opportunity. I cannot wait for the year ahead. by @raquel.v1
Halloween is over, the cuddly sweater is on, and I’m finally treating myself to @rachelpologewrites ’s delightful debut. I’ve been looking forward to this book for so long! I expected the tension and emotion but I did not expect it to be so much pure fun from page 1. Congratulations to Rachel, but mainly congratulations to me for getting to read this awesome book!! #romancebookrecs #holidayromancebooks #romancebooks #novemberreads #romancebookstagram by @raquel.v1
I am criminally bad at selfies, but here are some photos of the amazing Adore, Amor festival with @thebronxisreading . I had such a good time catching up with @prisoliveras and @janelm and meeting and hearing from awesome speakers @alexisdaria @mayra.cuevas @rissmneilson @j.l.polanco @kimanimaewrites and more. Picked up great reads, enjoyed the gorgeous decorations and fun company, and celebrated love and books. đŸ©·đŸ€ #romanceauthors #bookfestival #writersofinstagram #romancebooks #romancebookrecs by @raquel.v1
This year’s beach read hit all the right notes! You know you picked a good one when your family complains about how antisocial you’re being. Thanks @prisoliveras for the heart, the laughs, the perfect ending to a perfect vacation đŸ©” #beachread #romancebookrecs #summerreads by @raquel.v1
Not me bringing my new book around to all the hot spring spots! Happy pub week to the wonderful @abigailsavitchlew — I can’t wait to dive into Livonia Chow Mein! Also, I don’t usually go wild for book jackets, but the feel of this one is
stellar. You need to get your hands on this, literally. #livoniachowmein #abigailsavitchlew #bookclubreads #bookclubrecs #bookrecs by @raquel.v1
Can’t wait to gift this perfect book, and I can’t believe that I pulled off this wrapping job inspired by @wrappinqueen ! Want to curl up with a story as amazing as a pomegranate spritz—bubbly and rich at the same time? Is that a real drink? I don’t know, it’s what I came up with for this fun and emotional book by @prisoliveras ! Wishing everyone a warm holiday season with loved ones. #giftwrap #romancebooks #romancebookrecs #holidaybooks by @raquel.v1

Logline: Online critique partners cross state lines and scale mountains to meet IRL and find out if their writing friendship goes past the margin notes! (Spoiler: it was awesome.) âœđŸŒâœđŸŒ Do you have a writing bestie? Tag them in the comments and tell us what you’ve learned from each other! Had an absolute blast yapping for hours with @raquel.v1 at our first in-person meetup!! Balancing non-profit life, motherhood, and writing is much, much easier with this incredible critique partner and friend. I cannot wait for the world to fall hard for Beth and Riker like I did. -Katy Had such a wonderful time catching up with @katyreadsromance this weekend! We talked book projects, life updates, and Halloween costumes. This amazing woman is responsible for invaluable feedback on my manuscript and support through the writing process. So grateful for the meet-up and this friendship! -Raquel by @raquel.v1
Happy Halloween!! This costume is for my romance lovers. If you can name the book cover, we should be friends. And I’ll take the time to say that this story by @sarahtdubbwrites is not at all spooky and brings so much joy and heat. I looked forward to curling up with this one for the few nights it took me to devour it. A big recommend! P.S. Sorry I can’t pull off bangs. #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #birdingwithbenefits #romancereader #bookcostume #romancebooks by @raquel.v1
This October I’m digging into my craft books and remembering how much I love the writing process, no matter what comes of it. Pity the Reader is a reminder of the power in creating. What’s your power?

A week ago today, I was giddy and ecstatic to be heading to my first @lkbfstorytellers Latinx Storytellers Conference. From the moment I slipped on that lanyard (never been so excited about a lanyard before!), the event skyrocketed past my expectations. I had the opportunity to attend excellent workshops on craft and publishing. I got to meet incredible writers and artists telling stories I can’t wait to see out in the world one day. I’ve never felt so welcomed into a room full of passionate, creative people building community together. Thank you to the organizers for this impactful convening. I look forward to staying in touch with everyone until next time! #latinxstorytellers #latinxrom #romanceauthorsofinstagram #writersconference #writerlife by @raquel.v1
