A year ago, I decided I wasn’t going to keep waiting for the “perfect time.”

I started building @backnine_golf while balancing real life… work, golf, Road to Scratch, family, and the unknown that comes with betting on yourself. Some days it felt like progress. Some days it felt like nothing was moving. But I kept showing up.

Fast forward and I’m looking at a year filled with moments I’ll never forget:
New polos and hats dropping.
A growing community.
My baby turning one.
And this feeling that I’m just getting started.

Now is the time to be bold. Be courageous.

If you’ve been sitting on an idea, let this be your sign to take the first step.

Can focusing on less, actually make me a better golfer? ⛳️

That’s the question I’m testing.

Instead of obsessing over every round, every swing, and every score, I’m trying to be more intentional with the time I do have and focus on what actually moves my game forward.

For a busy golfer, more isn’t always better.

Sometimes less, done with purpose, might be the answer.

What do I do when I’m not playing golf? ⛳️

Sometimes the best reset has nothing to do with the course.

Spent the day with family at the Ramos Crawfish Boil, enjoying good food, good people, and a little time away from chasing lower scores.

Golf is a big part of my life, but it’s not the whole thing. Finding that balance is part of the journey too.

How bad do you really want it?

Everybody wants success when they’re motivated. The difference is who keeps going when the results are slow, the work gets repetitive, and nobody is watching.

You don’t always have to be the most talented person in the room.

Sometimes you just have to refuse to quit.

Keep showing up. Keep putting in the work. Keep going long enough to outlast the next guy.

Most people stop before they ever find out how close they were.

Most of us golfers have a pre-shot routine….many don’t have a POST-SHOT routine.

Here’s what a solid post-shot routine look like…

After each shot…get back to your breath by breathing in for 4 seconds and out for 8. Or…inhale for 4 and out for 4 seconds.

This is going to keep the mind from going to places it doesn’t need to go. Which is usually filled with worry/ future thoughts/scenarios that don’t serve their game.

Many times golfers begin to catastrophize, in between the shots and bring that worry to the next shot.

What also happens when the golfer arrives at the next shot with their nervous system dysregulated is it prevents the golfer from gathering all the information they need in order to hit the next shot as best as they can.

How many times have you looked back on a shot and thought “I didn’t read that break, I didn’t look at the wind. I didn’t look at this..I didn’t look at that.”

When a golfer is frazzled and dysregulated, it makes gathering all the information they need very difficult.

The post shot routine is crucial to play good golf by keeping the nervous system and the mind calm.

The trick becomes doing this after every single shot or in between every shot.

I truly believe golfers would see more of their full potential if their nervous system stayed calm more often.

Apparently this is how golf ads are done now 😂

Told my wife @backnine_golf dropped two new polos and asked if she wanted to help film a video…

She reached for the driver.

I made the smarter business decision. 😂⛳️

All jokes aside, this is obviously satire. Violence against women and domestic violence are never funny or acceptable.

Golf will humble you fast.

On 12 at Lions Municipal, I hit a great drive, followed it with a solid second shot that found the bunker, then hit one of my best shots of the day to about 3 feet.

Perfect chance to save birdie.

And I missed it.

That’s the part of golf nobody can fake. You can do almost everything right and still not get the result.

All you can do is keep giving yourself chances.

The putts will eventually fall. ⛳️

My first hole in my first amateur tournament… I made an 8.

Not exactly the start I had pictured.

The nerves were real. Adrenaline was high, everything felt faster, and suddenly shots I’ve hit a thousand times felt completely different.

But that’s why I wanted to play tournament golf.

You don’t really know how your game holds up under pressure until you put yourself in it.

An 8 on the first hole hurt, but quitting mentally would’ve been worse.

Take the hit. Reset. Play the next shot.

That’s tournament golf. ⛳️
