Most of us golfers have a pre-shot routine….many don’t have a POST-SHOT routine.

Here’s what a solid post-shot routine look like…

After each shot…get back to your breath by breathing in for 4 seconds and out for 8. Or…inhale for 4 and out for 4 seconds.

This is going to keep the mind from going to places it doesn’t need to go. Which is usually filled with worry/ future thoughts/scenarios that don’t serve their game.

Many times golfers begin to catastrophize, in between the shots and bring that worry to the next shot.

What also happens when the golfer arrives at the next shot with their nervous system dysregulated is it prevents the golfer from gathering all the information they need in order to hit the next shot as best as they can.

How many times have you looked back on a shot and thought “I didn’t read that break, I didn’t look at the wind. I didn’t look at this..I didn’t look at that.”

When a golfer is frazzled and dysregulated, it makes gathering all the information they need very difficult.

The post shot routine is crucial to play good golf by keeping the nervous system and the mind calm.

The trick becomes doing this after every single shot or in between every shot.

I truly believe golfers would see more of their full potential if their nervous system stayed calm more often.

Do you have a post shot routine?

SEQUENCED.

Power isn’t just about creating force. It’s about creating force in the right order.

One of the biggest differences between elite golfers and everyone else is how they sequence the swing. Pressure shifts, the ground pushes back, the pelvis leads, the torso follows, then the arms and club deliver the strike.

This is one of my favorite golf fitness and golf mobility drills because it teaches your body to feel that sequence instead of just thinking about it.

How to do it:
• Stand on a @downshiftgolf board
• Hold a kettlebell with both hands
• Shift pressure into your trail side
• Move pressure toward your lead side before your arms “release”
• Stay balanced and let the motion flow from the ground up

Simple setup.
One kettlebell.
One pressure board.
Hundreds of better reps.

Big thanks to @downshiftgolf for creating one of the best tools I’ve used to help golfers understand pressure, balance, and sequencing.

Your body learns by doing, not by collecting swing thoughts.

My first trade show. Nervous, uncomfortable, and completely outside my comfort zone.

But I chose this path, and I owe it to myself to see it through.

Fear doesn’t disappear. You just decide your purpose matters more.

All you have to do is hit this putt a couple of inches…

The slope does the rest. You would think an experienced golfer like myself could easily hole one of these 8 foot putts.

Golf had other plans. Stay patient out there! ⛳️

The mind is a powerful tool, and @collin_morikawa has been digging deep amidst lingering back issues this season to play some impressive golf. He’s here at the @pgachampionship and admittedly not 100% but he talks here about his mindset and I asked how he gets around amidst injury adversity 🧠

Genuinely curious where my juggling skills are at versus YOU out there. On a 1-10 I would give myself a generous 6. I’ve been bouncing a ball on a wedge for as long as I can remember, and this is the main playbook of tricks that I can pull off on a whim. It’s no 300 yard drive or 200 yard seven iron but it is a pretty cool party trick that surprises lots of golfers

How many can you do?

10 chips to get LUCKY and hole out with a 52 degree @luckygolfofficial wedge. Something about staring down at GOLD and @celtics green has me motivated to perform this time of year 🍀
