Paris 2025 🫶

What an amazing 3 weeks!

Started with no racquets and finished with one very special trophy 🏆

In between was the requisite walk-out video, sightseeing, recreated a scene from a classic ‘80s movie, honored a legend, met a legend, took a pre-match nap in the gym and even got Niko on a stretching routine. Oh yeah, and one lucky red hat that’s retired 7-0!!

We’ll always have Paris.
Au revoir et merci beaucoup!!

For the past 9 seasons I’ve had the pleasure of being fitness coach for Shelby Rogers. There’s been way too much in that time to mention everything here. Of course, there’s been lots of highs and lows but there has been so much more than that. There’s been thousands of laughs and smiles; tears of joy, tears of pain. So many days of sweat and blood; so many happy hugs, lots of comforting hugs. So many crazy pandemic workouts, so many questions (how is that drive-up key kiosk always busy??). So many inside jokes. Too many dad jokes. There’s been secret handshakes, crazy Christmas outfit workouts, car snacks, car karaoke, badly pronounced directions (Elsie Gundo??) and one viral video (thank you @willsmith ).

Through all the highs and lows you always carried yourself with the grace and elegance of the true Southern woman you are. On and off the court you were a true professional. “If you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat those two imposters the same.” You took time for every autograph, every picture and every little girl who dreamed of growing up to be like you. You made your beloved hometown of Charleston proud.

I’m proud of you, too. Proud of the work we put in together. Proud of how you worked to put 2018 behind you and have your best results after such a trying year (13 months). Proud of how you kept fighting until the end. Time is still undefeated but you walked away with your head held high and on your own terms. I’m proud of you for that, too.

I’ve been pre-sad for months about the inevitable. But now I’m excited. Excited that you made it to the finish line like we planned. Excited to see what the next chapter holds for you. I know you’re excited, too. Especially at not getting a text from me every single morning asking how everything feels 😂😂

Thanks for all the laughs and stories I will continue to tell. Thank you for trusting me with the most important commodity a professional athlete has: their body. Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your journey.

💪🏼💪🏼👊🏼

Blessed to have made another trip around the sun! This one has included some amazing highs and some crushing lows. Together it’s taught me some valuable lessons about grace, humility, resilience, perseverance and gratitude. Fortunately there have been old friends and new friends who have supported me through everything this year has thrown at me. The good, the bad and the incredible. I am truly grateful for all of you! And especially my love Karen ❤️ my little girl ConnieBelle 🪻💜 and my little buddy Jack who’s watching over me 😇 👊🏼

Early this morning we said goodbye to our beloved Jack as he crossed over the rainbow bridge 🌈🌁 He was met on the other side by his first mommy Becky who first found him in the middle of the road. Thankfully she brought him home where he had a slow start but she never gave up on him. He became the sweetest boy who wanted nothing more than to cuddle with someone. He was also a great brother to his sisters Emma, Seven and Tre who were waiting for him today; as well as Connie who is mourning him today.
Jack was born blind. He spent his entire life in the dark but brought light to so many people. He bumped into obstacles literally every day but not once did he ever show any frustration or discouragement. What a great lesson for all of us.
Jack loved the beach, bow ties, The Godfather movies and destroying stuffed animals. However, his second mommy Karen had a special stuffed animal that was for another Jack. For some reason I can’t explain he not only never ripped it open, he cuddled with it and slept with it.
He was the toughest boy as he battled seizures for years. And he fought courageously until the very end. Rest in peace, Dude. I will miss my daily text messages from you, Brah 👊🏼

Unpopular opinion: speed starts with the stop.

If you only train “go,” your recovery step will always be late because you’re leaking force at the change of direction. These two drills train the brake before the push — the missing link in most tennis movement work.

Drill 1 — 45° fake slam → hold

• Ball outside the knee keeps the shin angle strong for re-acceleration
• Hold 2s so hips, chest, and foot pressure reset under control

Trains your ability to stabilize before the next step — critical on wide balls or quick direction changes

Drill 2 — 45° fake slam → bound out to the side

• Same 45° load, but now exit purely lateral
• No forward drift — keeps all your momentum toward the next shot

Builds a clean, loaded push-off so you arrive earlier and more balanced

Every wide ball, short ball, or change of direction is a two-part job — stop, then go. Without the stop, your recovery step is slower, your contact point suffers, and your shot quality drops. Training both in the same session bridges the gap between speed training and actual point play.

Really great to get the chance to catch up with @raw10sperform (another @tenniscongress reunion!)
Although we initially went to different branches of @dropshotcoffeeldn to meet up (🤦🏼‍♂️), we got there in the end!
Richard is doing some fantastic work with Coco Gauff and is putting in the final prep before Wimbledon starts.
