KIA ORA E TE IWI WE ARE BACK AGAIN!

Tai Tokerau Polynesian Canoe Association(TTPCA), in partnership with Native Sports Performance (NSP), warmly invites your kura to take part in our 2026 Secondary School Rangatahi Waka Ama “Have a Go” Days.

These days are designed to give Year 7-13 rangatahi the opportunity to experience waka ama in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.

There is also a chance to explore future waka ama opportunities- including Term 1 Secondary School Regatta and the Secondary School Nationals in 2027.

Event Details:
Lake Ngatu, Kaitaia - Monday 16th November
Lake Manuwai, Waipapa/Kerikeri- Tuesday 17th November
Whangārei (venue tbc) - Thursday 19th November

To register your kura’s interest, please complete the form at the following link that is in our bio.

We encourage kura to get in early as spaces may be limited.

AUCKLAND STORM ALUMNI 🔵⚪️

Always go with the choices that scare you the most, because those are the ones that will require the most from you! They will help you grow quickly and teach you things you had never thought of! I am grateful I can look back on this era of my life and share a moment with some wāhine who have helped shape rugby, not just in many clubs in Auckland and the Auckland Storm, but across Aotearoa and the world! Some big dogs of women’s rugby! 🏉

My time in the Storm was incredible; we had a culture of excellence, thanks to all the players who contributed to the legacy before I joined. It was clear that it was a successful team! The grass, the coaches, the water bottles you encountered during training, and the handful of girls who brought us new ones in after the mass exodus 2010 they all looked, smelled, and breathed excellence, which in turn set you up to understand that everyone worked hard here!

I learned that EFFORT earned you respect, WORK RATE might have gotten your name on the team sheet, and ATTITUDE was what kept you in it when you had a squad of 35 all trying to outdo and KILL each other in training to make the team! It was my first rugby representative team, and I feel SOOO lucky to have had the chance to represent The STORM my winning ERA 🏆 a ERA I learnt EXCELLENCE not just for a season but to back it up year after year after year! There were lots of Bus Rides with the JJ Stewart 🐐 Grateful AF for all the relationships the ones that still think of you and get you coaching gigs over seas, send us gear up north, tickets to games, entry to facilities for all our Natives and all the Jersey Presentations im grateful 🙌🏾 This team set me up for the next ERA to help many more girls into women’s rugby!
