POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Thinking back to two weeks ago when I had the honor and pleasure of joining the amazing @pearlyband for their single release show at @thestonewallinn. Celebrating the release of The Mullet Song!! So much fun in a night stacked with rock&roll, drag, queer joy, & community. The crowd was big, beautiful, and full of both friends & strangers ♥️. Ending up the night hanging out at the diner was the cherry on top.

Killllller music from PEARLY (@pearlyband + @magda.kress @goodmolly_missgolly ) and opening bands JENDAYI + GYASI (formerly @charliebellemusic) and DÉA (@ thedripsmusic)!!! And drag by my co-performers ThatBEAOverThere (@thatbeaoverthere ) and Troy Next Door (@lilyalioshatz ) had the whole house screaming!

This “breaking-free” act was my way to highlight remembering to not let overwhelm immobilize oneself and sometimes put down the doomscroll and take time to connect with each other & community. A little catharsis of a number for me.

thanks to wonderful pals @gabrielblowhard , @maurybotton , & KP for 🎥 & 📸!

Check out Pearly’s ear worm songs! Their guitar playing is truly 🔥🔥!!!!!! by @ray_de_ohh

A moment ago it was September! My dragaversary month!

When I did drag for the first time it entered into my heart like an arrow of fire.
(well, technically second time after one night way back in high school)

It was the first week of September a handful of years ago that Ray arrived to be bar back at a house party. Then in September 2024 I had the truly incredible pleasure of taking Theydy Bedbug’s drag workshop at BAX with some of the most amazing artist colleagues ever. Incredible times! And since then I have been so thrilled and entranced by performing, watching others perform , and all that drag can do. I love this art form/play/dialog/way of being.

So grateful for the drag community and my (extended) drag family.
And wanting to thank all y’all who produce shows that have open sets or invite emerging dragsters to get their start on stage. And those doing workshops, skillshares, act feedback parties, etc.! Not to mention those who just like to go out to see drag!

I Love NYC Drag!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️

thanks again to:
@theydy.bedbug

Damn, what a time full of thrills this past week!
@werestillhere.nyc -- the monthly show for drag & performance produced by @thatryanoverthere

I got to hang out with my buddy @cheeksthecharmer and had the true honor of being part of his amazing amazing act.

It was The Ancestral Circuit show, co-hosted by @alissaorgperformanceart and Sammy, full of acts that might bring you laughs, make you cry, and put extraordinary things in front of all our eyes.
a night of incredible performances by:
@gabrielblowhard (with a very special guest!)
@tittsromney
@attaboydrag
@hermoinegrinder
and of course
@thatryanoverthere
@alissaorgperformanceart
Sammy
and me and Cheeks the Charmer

I worked the door a little too which is one of my very favorite things to do -- welcoming people in to all the great art that awaits them.

What a night!
And I hear tell there may still be a slot or two open for the Nov and Dec WSH shows -- so maybe you want to check out the call and bring some of your own magic into nights of @werestillhere.nyc by @ray_de_ohh

Damn, what a night that was last week.

On Monday night at Drag King Bingo hosted by @cunning_stunt_king, the ABCs of drag also stood for:
Absolutely
Badass
Community
with SO many great drag artists and drag friends in the house…!
so great hanging out with drag family
@cheeksthecharmer
@pearlyband
& fellow drag artists
@hermoinegrinder
@alissaorgperformanceart
@mr_slutbk
and more performers, friends, and neighbors that night.

A total honor to share the stage with my starpower supertalented drag brother
@amorph3us.drag !!
and to share it with
@leopard.killa — was blown away by their razor sharp lipsync and stage presence.

For this act I got to weave together some of my favorite antifascist tunes and do symbolic takedowns of the authoritarian regime. Cathartic. But can’t wait for this act to become as irrelevant as possible……

Not only did lots of community and artistry happen that night, bingo prizes were won by friends and neighbors and the 3rd round prize winner generously gave their prize money to the performers as tips…! 😲 Just amazing buzzy energy and good spirits all around the room.

as always, fun times to be had at @cunning_stunt_king ‘s Drag King Bingo @lucky13saloon !

And, speaking of drag community, check out application for @theydy.bedbug ‘s fall drag performance workshop starting soon @baxarts ! A true community-builder.

Thank you for 📸 and 🎥 capturing the night @cheeksthecharmer , @hermoinegrinder , @annabelle_mcd and other friends ...!
Thanks to @maurybotton for helping to expose the presence of fascism before I pounced on it from the stage.
And thanks to everyone for coming!

Can’t wait for more….

Truly lived a drag king dream last night getting to do this Bowie number.

My costume heart prop revealed itself a little sooner than I meant it to, but I guess that's just what happens when a wannabe tough guy wears his heart on his sleeve.... (like, literally on my sleeve...! haha) ;-)
Felt so much love for the audience and for community this night.

The We're Still Here/It's a Drag Show Show night hosted by the AMAZING host/organizer @thatryanoverthere was in-cred-i-ble!

These performers are making acts that just blow this here guy's mind with their glorious creativity, badass brains, and artful execution. So honored to share the stage with these people....! :
