⭐️📖 finished read!

It was a super quick story, which i enjoyed as I’ve been on a small book / novella kick lately. And this is a fun dip into “weird girl lit” but it felt like it was right on the edge of committing to it. But i loved Sky Daddy, and this felt very similar to that. 4/5 stars! & i highly recommend for a quick weird girl lit book. + translated fiction!

When The Tiger Came Down The Mountain 🐅 🏔️

This was a beautiful story. Nghi Vo’s writing feels so fairytale, or fable like. These were published in 2020, but they feel old in a beautiful wonderful way. They give you just enough to feel the world and understand what’s going on, but still little enough that your imagination can run wild. These are my favorite kind of novellas and this was was a lovely read.

The Empress of Salt and Fortune 🧂 🎱

This one REALLY felt like an old fable. It felt like a story I had read before yet so fresh and beautiful. Heartbreaking at times, and just like the other novella, just enough to enrich the world, while not being over explanatory. Great read!

Assembly ⚙️

This book was nowhere on my radar. I spotted it in a little library while roadtripping, and the summary grabbed my attention. Though, it feels a tad misleading, as it is not so blatant as our narrator “assembling” herself. I expected broken up paragraphs, the description made it sound as if each chapter would be breaking down a part of her, and piecing it back together as society sees fit. Which is what the book did, just not as blatantly. I almost would have liked to see it feel almost more medical in writing? It had more of an ongoing thought feel. Still very good! And an interesting look into a side of the world I am not familiar with. The African experience in Britain.

I loveeeeee these other editions

[…]

That’s it. That’s the title.

Palestinian poems. There’s not much more I can say other than this one was heartbreaking. Beautiful prose. Stunning works. No one is free, until everyone is. 🌎

⭐️ $4 book haul <3🧘‍♀️ 📖

My local goodwill did a sale for 50% off ALL books, so I snagged a few

Armed with my tabis, plenty of free time, and a vanilla caramel coffee from 7brew (which is right in front of the Goodwill) & I got some books!

🎞️📀🧘‍♀️ bar crawl? Nahhh, library crawl 🫶🏻

I had a 7 hour drive to pick up my baby sister and get to our parents house for the weekend! So I thought I’d check out some new libraries and grab some reads for my folks place 💅🏻

I am a full time librarian, so I never get to visit other libraries, because we’re all open at the same time, and im running mine! So since i had the day off i got to visit 3 libraries! I checked out 4 books, got 3 bookmarks, 1 pin, 4 National Geographic’s, and 2 movies!

It was a fun crawl, that ended after the 3rd library as at that point it had been about 4 hours into the drive, and it was around 5:30, which meant all the other libraries closed!

⭐️📀 a quiet day as a public librarian!

I love my job :)

Favorite part of my day was walking into the elementary school classroom to read the book for their pre-K reads today, and I hear a student go “that’s my librarian!“ And when I looked over, it was the first little girl I ever read stories to as a librarian. When I started as an assistant almost 3 years ago, she was about two years old, and the only kid that came to my storytime every week. She eventually aged out and started pre-K, and I was able to build up my storytime to now on average I have 30 to 40 people attending! Being a librarian is full of little victories, and this was definitely one of them. It reminds me why I love this job and why I’m doing it!
