Book Challenge 📕💫

Thanks @liz.bookshelf_ for giving me an excuse to talk about books again (as if I needed one lol)

So let's get into it!

🔸How do I choose my next read?
- I never plan more than 2 books ahead coz I'm more of a mood-reader. I read what feels right in the moment

🔸Buy or borrow?
I'm a buyer, through and through. I'm that person who treats borrowed books like they're made of glass. Too much pressure 😅 I need my own copy to fully relax into the story

🔸One at a time or juggling?
Juggling! Being a mood reader definitely has its perks - one day I'm craving fantasy, the next I want something light and fluffy like a rom-com! Switching between genres actually keeps me from hitting a slump

🔸Physical, audio or e-reader?
Ooh this one's tough! Physical copies have my heart, but I've learned to appreciate the convenience of my ONYX BOOX and the immersion of audiobooks as well

🔸Classic or not?
Mmm... I'll read a classic once in a blue moon but they just aren't my go-to. Most of the time I gravitate toward fantasy, contemporary, or anything that doesn't feel like homework lol

Knock, knock! It's your friendly neighborhood reader! 😺 Here's what's going on in my world this week

Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T. 👇🏻

Reading 📚
📙Heaven Official's Blessing, Vol. 2
📕New Moon
almost finished both the books!
I've kinda put off reading this month coz life's gotten in the way. I've got just a couple of chapters left so hopefully, I'll finish them by Halloween
📘started listening to Kanashibari: Until the Last Light Goes Out. Vol. 2 in the background while getting things done around the house

Eating 🍌✨
- fried eggs
- avocado toast
- oatmeal with half a banana
- backed potatoes, lamb and Russian beetroot salad

Playing 🎧
• Lorde (Glory and Gore, Royals, What Was That, Tennis Court)
• Taylor Swift (Shake It Off, Wildest Dreams, August, You Need to Calm Down)
• Katy Perry (Dark Horse, When I'm Gone, Legendary Lovers)
• others: Big Dipper, Perfect Day, Suddenly I See, Hotel Room Service, Hey, Baby

Obsessed with 😻
📒a 3-week English course on advanced speaking and vocabulary that I've taken!
🧘‍♀️ slowly learning to stand on Sadhu nail boards - painful but powerful practice in mind over matter
🦖 collecting Kinder Surprise dinosaurs!!! Me and @raccoon_readsss are now proud parents of growing dinosaur family. And my desk's been turning into a tiny Jurassic Park lol
🥑 attempting to raise an avocado child
🐈‍⬛🐕 my pets that I got to visit - they're my serotonin boost!
🧥 the coziest jacket I finally treated myself to (I'm never taking it off!)
🪷 deep-diving into the philosophy of karma
🃏 mastering “7 Red,” the card game that’s ruining my friendships (in the best way) 🤣

Recommend 🍂
1️⃣ play background nature sounds on YouTube if you work from home. It's my go-to way to relax and stay focused
2️⃣ say yes to spontaneous gatherings! When your chosen family calls for a last-minute gathering - go!! These unplanned moments often become the memories you cling to
3️⃣ pay a visit to your former school teachers who shaped you coz one day there'll be no one left who remembers the person you were becoming. Sit with them. Laugh with them about the old days. And give them a big hug!

Thanks my dear friend, @sincerelyaxel, for tagging me in # lastimpressiontag 💜💫

A book you think about often
– Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
🐦‍🔥 it's really thick and as I read not that often, I have lots of time to reflect on characters' actions and certain events in the book (the story is really so good!)

A character you think about often
– Severus Snape
🐍 aww my most fav HP character!!

A quote that stood out
– "You imagine a world where the two of you can go out to dinner together on a Saturday night and no one thinks twice about it. It makes you want to cry, the simplicity of it, the smallness of it. You have worked so hard for a life so grand. And now all you want are the smallest freedoms. The daily peace of loving plainly" 💛

A book you want a tv/film adaptation of
– Legends & Lattes
☕️ I'd love all the coziness and warmth of the book to be visualized!

A book you want to reread
– why, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe ofc!
🍅 this book is too good to just be stuck on the shelf collecting dust. Making my best to reread it each summer

Books you want to read based on other people's reviews
👑 Twin Crowns, The Midnight Library, Catch and Cradle, A Man Called Ove, The Night Circus

Hi, everyone! My good friends @readsoflara and @lucyreadsss tagged me in the #bookishtotebag challenge what feels like forever ago 🤣 So, today I'm gonna show what I put in my bookish tote bag!

Tbh, I'm not a huge fan of tote bags. They seem pretty uncomfortable to me. I prefer putting all the stuff in my small backpack instead. But I took one with me for the sake of the challenge

So, these are the things that are in my tote bag:
📕 a book, obviously
📚 a Stephen King's Pet Sematary book sleeve (one of the many me and @raccoon_readsss own! Each of them is absolutely incredible 🤩) to prevent the book from getting damaged
💧 a water bottle (to stay hydrated is vital!)
💳 a debit card (in case I feel the need to buy something)
🤧 a handkerchief (I've caught a bit of a cold recently, but I feel much better now!)
🪮 a comb (my short hair can get messy when it's windy lol)
🎧 AirPods (when I take a bus or metro train, I like to listen to music)
📒 my wish copybook and a pen (to be able to instantly write down popped up wishes before I forget them)
🙆🏻‍♀️ pepper spray (safety first!)
🔑 keys with a Kristen Stewart keychain
🧴 wet wipes and sanitizer (in case I wanna grab a snack, I need my hands to be clean)
✂️ cuticle scissors (forgot to bring them with me, left them in the backpack! Well, sometimes I need to get rid of hangnails)

And do you prefer a tote bag or a backpack? 🎒

🤍✨ — April photo dump!

— ✨🎀 my April was pretty good, nothing really special happened at all. I was kind of in a reading slump (I’m not sure how many book I read this month because I’ve become so bad at tracking it😭) for a bit due to all my classes work and stress of the semester ending. But yeah May is the crazy month for me between graduating, starting grad school and moving to a new city it’s going to be crazy. I hope you all had an amazing april and have an even better may! my dms are always open 🫶✨🩷

— 🍀✨ march photo dump/wrap up

✨🤍 — march was a definitely a month! It felt long but also quick at the same time idk. I did fall into a reading slump near the end of march but I did end up still reading 13 books this month with my favorite being swift and saddled by lyla sage (it got me out of my slump so…yeehaw🤠). I also celebrated my 2 year booksta anniversary, which I can’t believe. @amelierhys.author was also kind enough to surprise me with some book mail of her book, alive at night, which I can’t wait to read! the ferrari 1-2 and mcLaren 3-4 finish in aus was definitely the highlight of my month! overall this month wasn’t the best for me mentally but I’m so grateful for all the amazing friends and people I have in my life 🫶. I hope yall had an amazing month & have an even better april, ily all and my dms are always open. I hope you enjoy this march photo dump 💚✨🫶 also my book wrap up can be found in my highlights!
